Festival Weekends in Shanti
Клубные российские · 12.04.2010
On the upcoming weekend, April 16 and 17, guests at Shanti will be welcomed to two festivals: 'Form of Life' and Shanti Festival.
Once a year, in April, Shanti implements a conceptual art project - the 'Form of Life' festival. It is dedicated to the triumph of the domestic genius who first cut a window into space.
Because of this, on this day, space becomes especially close to us.
The aim of this festival is to raise national pride in the great technological breakthrough and to express gratitude to the people who participated in implementing the Main Event in the history of the 20th century.
Manifesto:
We are the Form of Life, a rare species of matter, energy that overcomes the rise of entropy. We exist on a tiny blue dot lost in the infinite black night. We believe - in the myriad of worlds there are many different Forms of Life. We strive for dialogue with them.
The Form of Life is the driving force of guests transforming into direct participants of the celebration. It is the internal creative source leading to Perfection. It is the spring ball of arts, fantastic costumes, and a long-awaited meeting of the most incredible characters.
History:
The idea of the club culture festival 'Form of Life' arose in 2003 at one of the private costume parties of the creative group Ozer.O. On April 12, 2003, the launch of the 'Form of Life' for 50 close friends took place. The event was a serious success among clubbers looking for a new Idea for night celebrations. The theme of Space was traditionally developed annually.
Since 2006, the 'Form of Life' has become an open project. Anyone can now participate. It is necessary to invent and create your image of the 'Form of Life,' arriving at the celebration from the depths of the endless Universe. Fantasy and imagination will help you with this.
In 2007, the club-restaurant Shanti became the permanent venue for the interplanetary gathering of the most incredible Forms of Life. It is here that the festival received the support of the Cosmic Force and gained a new scale.
In the long list of various events held under the roof of club Shanti, Shanti Fest occupies a special place. This festival has become a bridge uniting two cultures that the club promotes year after year. Ethnic music, rooted in ancient Eastern traditions, sounds alongside ultra-modern techno, while DJs share the stage with musicians playing traditional Indian instruments. The April festival is timed to the club’s Shanti Goa season closure, which had hosted parties on the Indian coast all winter. On this occasion, a new CD, published under the auspices of Shanti, will be presented, and those who entertained our overseas residence guests will take the stage.
Residents of 'Shanti Goa,' an international collective Digital Samsara, will come specially from India to the festival. The full composition of the group includes more than ten musicians playing such exotic instruments as zurna, oud, didgeridoo, duduk, bansuri flute, tabla, and even balalaika. A significant place in the group's instrumental palette is occupied by guitars, violin, accordion, piano, trumpet, and, of course, electronics. Digital Samsara's compositions are most often categorized as world fusion: in their music, ambient, soft chill-out electronics, elements of new age, and even jazz come together organically, as well as various ethnic components. The traditional component is not limited to Indian motifs: in their work, Digital Samsara turns to the musical heritage of both the Middle East, Ireland, and even Russia.
Accompanying guests from India will be the Russian duo Diggadgy, who have already made a great name for themselves among world music lovers. Hailing from Lipetsk, brothers Konstantin and Pavel Lyubavins are inspired by the works of George Harrison, Can, Talvin Singh, Ravi Shankar, Amporphous Androgynous, and Orbital, freely navigating the musical map between downtempo, lounge, dub-ambient, and Indian folklore. Their music has received recognition not only in Europe but also in their “spiritual homeland” - in India, where the duo has performed multiple times at the 'Shanti-Goa' venue.
Equally important in Shanti's ideology is ultra-modern art, based on the latest technologies, designed to look into the future. This side of the festival will be represented by residents of the club Dolshchik (the curator of the now-famous Reflection parties, as well as a keen connoisseur of Dub-Techno music) and Slava Finist, who was one of the founders of DJ culture in Russia. This time, the legendary DJ will not only play a techno set but will also participate in a jam session with Felix Lahuti – a violinist, vocalist, showman, a steady promoter of funk, and the head of his band Felix Lahuti & Funky Land.
DJ Paulo Fino will perform that evening with one of the most stunning singers from our vastness and, dare we say, the whole world - Sasha Rakhmankova. Sasha has a unique voice spanning 4.5 octaves, skillfully using it as an instrument across different musical directions.
Everyone attending will receive a CD Mango Season (mixed by DJ Sashanti) as a gift!
