Flammable Beats 7 Years Birthday Party

A birthday at 7 years old is a date at the very beginning of life’s journey. But if we are talking about one of the main hip-hop associations in the country, then 7 years means 84 months of quality parties with a huge number of invited artists, more than 2550 days of work on mixes and podcasts, and about 61,000 hours of non-stop promotion of good musical taste. It was that long ago that Tactics, Pirumov, Chagin and Vinylkin united under the name Flammable Beats, and now they have a solid history of hip-hop missionary behind them.
However, hip-hop from Flammable Beats exists outside of any framework, it is rather a tool through which they promote a wide variety of music that is very rarely heard in a regular club format.
On November 12, the 16 Tons club will celebrate the seventh birthday of Flammable Beats, the special guest will be the famous French producer Jean-Christophe Le Saoût, known to all fans of quality hip-hop as Wax Tailor with a full Live! performance.
In addition to special sets prepared by Flammable Beats for its seventh anniversary, you can expect the premiere of a film about vinyl digging with Flammable Beats and the premiere of a video for the song Hokkey [Panda feat. Dashika, producer Dj Vinilkin].
WAX TAILOR [Live! /FR]
A Frenchman with a hairstyle a la Moby and a slightly fabulous name Jean-Christophe Le Saux is really creating a kind of modern musical fairy tale under the name Wax Tailor: with a promising beginning (hip-hop with retro styling and samples from old Hollywood), a bright climax (from swing and boogie to trip-hop and downtempo) and an unpredictable ending (from pompous orchestral and instrumental pieces - to minimalistic electronics), reaching an unprecedented breadth of the genre. Extraordinary vocals, vintage soul, melodies like ready-made soundtracks for French cinema, a cross between modern sound and pop hits of the 60s - this artist was loved not because his music meets some criteria like “interesting”, “unusual”, “relevant”, but simply because he can’t help but like it - the soul feels so much better after listening.
In The Mood For Life, his third album, released last year, was his best success and built on the successes of recent years; Wax Tailor's assets include concerts around the world, hundreds of thousands of records sold, remixes of Nina Simone and music critic comparisons with Portishead, DJ Shadow and RJD2. Wax Tailor in 2010 is no longer “curious instrumental hip-hop”, but a real sign of quality. Working more and more as a producer, Jean-Christophe does not forget about live performances, which deserve special mention: the beatmaker-storyteller himself, an MC, a soloist, a DJ and a cellist are frolicking on stage, and as video support on the screens there are newsreels, for which this soundtrack seems to have been written, a vinaigrette from Lenin to Lennon, from Elvis to Obama.
This music is a life-affirming “yes!” to this world, easy listening in the literal sense: his songs are even called that – Sit & Listen; no need to analyze, just enjoy. If you love rap (like hip-hop) or Ennio Morricone, rock and roll or techno, a baby mammoth song or the theme for ringtones from “The Godfather” - come, because Wax Tailor will please everyone.
