Moscow, September 1, 2004. "Phlegmatic Dog", the world's first hi-tech internet pub, was recognized as the winner in the category of "The Most Stylish Internet Cafe in the World" at a competition organized by the globally renowned portal Yahoo!. The pub outshined all the nominees participating in the competition. The award, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the opening of the first internet cafe, was presented in London. Over 1000 nominees from 111 countries worldwide participated in the competition, including internet cafes from Paris, Milan, and New York. The jury included prominent figures such as Eva Pasco, one of the founders of the world's first internet cafe Cafe Cyberia, opened in London on September 1, 1994, James Bilfield, Managing Director Communication Products at Yahoo! Europe, Mark Ellingham, founder of Rough Guides, Anna Bacon from STA Travel, and Lyn Hughes, editor, and founder of Wanderlust magazine. The top nominees are listed in the special e-publication Rough Guides e-book (The Rough Guide to the World's Best Internet Cafes), for more information visit yahoo.co.uk/internetcafes. The winners were identified in the following categories: Most Remote, Most Unusual, Best in Britain, Best Rescue, and Most Stylish. 'I am delighted with my team and the support provided by our visitors over the past year. This award is a recognition of the tremendous work we have done and the loyalty to the path we have chosen to provide our visitors with something extraordinary,' commented Chris Carl, CEO of "Phlegmatic Dog". 'I sincerely believe that our advantage over other competition participants in the battle for the title of the coolest and most stylish bar in the world lies in the combination of service, music, events, and, most importantly, in the style of our events, public materials, and PR support. From this point of view, we have earned a reputation as one of the trendiest, 'cutting-edge' spots in Moscow. I would like to thank our advertising agency The Creative Factory separately for their tireless work and dedication to this project.' When asked what contributed to "Phlegmatic Dog" reaching the competition final, Chris Carl replied, 'The 'uniqueness' of our pub is that, of course, we are located right next to the walls of the Kremlin, in the heart of Russia and provide a free internet service with any order. However, the most important, as I believe, is the atmosphere created in the bar. On Thursdays, we host the most popular parties in Moscow called 'Tech-Thursdays by Anton Kubikov', on Fridays, very stylish parties called 'Snowiness'. Not many internet cafes can boast around 800 people dancing until 6 in the morning. Moreover, our menu rightfully competes with many restaurants in the city.' 'Phlegmatic Dog' proudly represented our country in the competition and became another point on the world map in the 'Simply the Best!' category.
