Ten years ago in 1992, Robbie Rivera came from his native Puerto Rico to Miami. That’s when it all began. Robbie had just finished his studies and decided to learn music. He started playing back home when he was around 13. Now he needed to learn to write music. "At that time, I played commercial house, products from David Morales and generally music in that style," recalls Rivera.

The desire was valid! Robbie Rivera as a musician became much more successful than Rivera the DJ. His first track Bang became a hit.

"I practiced playing records for a long time. I DJed a lot in Europe, but still decided to fully devote myself to composition."
Now Robbie is considered one of the founding fathers of such a popular substyle of dance music as filtered house, which dominated the London gay movement, especially in the club Salvation. Lately, Rivera has increasingly had to prove the viability of filtered house, rejecting attacks from detractors claiming that the style is gradually exhausting itself.

"The technology of producing filtered disco is that old samples are filtered using new technologies and gain powerful bass. The result, in my opinion, is really cool; it is truly something new. It's not even a style but just a technique. Filtered house is not dying; it is reaching a new level." The production of filtered house has been termed "cloning disco." This style has taken a very worthy place not only on the European but especially on the American club scene.
