Fun Funk Fest - on August 27, in the last days of summer - 2004, an event took place in Moscow that was not unique, but at least joyful and unusual. Musicians who profess a religion that has played no less a role in the development of music than Jamaican ska, dub, and reggae gathered on the summer grounds of the GOGOL' club. And its name is Funk! Rooted in soul, rhythm'n'blues, and jazz, funk absorbed the entire range of African-American harmonies and melodicism, giving them movement and overflowing energy. It is thanks to funk that modern music owes what is called groove. In recent decades, funk has not remained in a preserved state. At the intersection of different styles and directions, it has transformed into new forms: disco, hip-hop, rap, jungle, drum'n'bass, and acid jazz - direct or distant heirs of funk music. But what distinguishes this music and musicians is not a dry and academic set of style characteristics and features. Above all, it is the festive mood and carefree fun that is always present at funk concerts. Joy literally bursts from every vinyl record, like apostles of the style - James Brown, George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Tower of Power, Sly & The Family Stone, as well as modern funk artists. It can be said without exaggeration that alternative rock of the 90s: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mr. Bungle, Spin Doctors, Rage Against the Machine, proponents of new metal and rap core have always relied on the rhythmic and energetic funk foundation. Russian bands that performed on stage at GOGOL' on August 27 played music that varied: from instrumental (but no less driving) original compositions and funk standards in author's versions, to danceable disco hits and rapid-fire rap. Disparate until now, club performances and festival appearances were combined by the organizers into a powerful marathon in which no one lagged behind. After all, one of the main goals of the festival is to unite musicians, collectives, and their friends to ignite a musical party with a funk fireworks display, which was successfully achieved! Now boredom has ordered a long life. Funk it! The history of uniting musicians playing funk music into a single movement began with this event. Starting in September, funk bands perform several times a week, and at least once a month jam parties are held. They are expected and desired, and it's not about the current fashion that is favorable to funk, but about the party itself. A person who attends it becomes its integral part, a part of a single organism consisting of celebration, joy, happiness, and the pleasure of dancing to beautiful and professionally played music. All this was at funk parties in clubs: Billingva, Molodaya Gvardiya, Cool train, 35mm, Kitayskiy Lyotchik Jao Da... Many who received a charge of positive vibrations at these parties have seen that these are not just words! On March 26, the largest funk festival in Russia, Fun Funk Fest V 2.0, will take place at the Apelsin club, where the most famous Russian funk bands and DJs will perform. This is the second festival organized by Bez promo, known for the summer Fun Funk Fest at GOGOL' club, which attracted about one and a half thousand spectators, and the series of parties 'True Funk Heroes' at Molodaya Gvardiya club. This time the geography of participants has noticeably expanded - in addition to well-known teams to the clubbers of the capital: Funk You!, Clean Tone, A. Shveller, Felix Lakuti and Funky Land, Sunlight, groups from other cities of Russia will perform on the Apelsin stage. This includes the successful touring in Scandinavia and radio rotation in the United States band from Murmansk Funky Stereo, as well as the Elefunk band from Nizhny Novgorod, which represented Russia in Goa in January 2005. The organizers promise to give the Moscow audience a truly fun Party - from nine in the evening until six in the morning, musicians will ignite the festival stage, and among them, the best DJs of the genre will showcase their vinyl skills: DJ Zhenya Lurie and DJ Urfin, and others. At Fun Funk Fest V 2.0 , besides Muscovites, partygoers and lovers of grandiose parties from many regions of Russia and the CIS are planning to come and have fun: St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Murmansk, Kiev, Minsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Samara, Klin, Nizhny Novgorod, Veliky Novgorod, Kaliningrad, Vyborg.
