Project "VOLGA" Moscow. Angelica Manukyan - vocals Roman Lebedev - electronics Alexey Borisov - electronics Yuri Balashov - wood, Tibetan bowl. They can do everything! Summon the sun, rain. Cast spells, divine. Project ancient Russia into modern day. Deep-rooted paganism. Unadapted texts from the 12th to the 19th centuries... and powerful electronics. Improvisation and unpredictability, magical rituals, ancient texts and modern sound. On October 13, at the club "Dom," the epilogue of the Altai festival "Living Water" will take place. Volga will present an ethnic, intellectually rich program. New compositions will be performed for the first time, some straight from the sheet. Old pieces have undergone a rebirth. For example, the famous song "Snowballs" will become magically enchanting. Volga is engaged in a unique reconstruction of ancient song texts, sometimes retaining only the general rhythmic tone in the music, and performs original pieces: spells, incantations, psalms. But here, occultism is subjected to electronic mockery. In songs like "Verdict," "Incantation," only the general movement and meaning are conveyed, while the mystical recipe remains secret. On October 31, the Oracle of the Divine Bottle, Halloween, Volga will hold a bacchanalian ritual celebration. On November 9, at the club "Third Way," the musicians will present a dance program, and on November 28, at the Zapasnik, Volga will perform a new program. The group has already recorded three albums. The first, "Drink to the Bottom," is popular and light. Themes include spells, incantations, elements of mockery of antiquity and witchcraft. It is rhythmically structured, and the unique sound gives the album an experimental Euro-scale character. Stylistic mixtures and synthesis: reggae, house, deep house. The second album has a domestic structure. The album is melancholic-melodic, with images of domestic Russia, with our purely Russian quirks, sufferings, and experiences. And the third album consists of remixes of previously released Volga songs. Preliminary participants include: Maler and Ya, Fish species, Theodore Basterz, and others. Which album will be released remains a secret. Brief information: The project has succeeded in combining modern electronic music, authentic elements of unadapted Russian folklore, and ritual ethnic motives. The rhythmic basis of "VOLGA" is based on styles such as dub, trip-hop, house combined with atmospheric ambient, acoustic percussion, and environmentally pure melodies. The lyrics are authentic texts from the 12th to 19th centuries. Excellent music for creating a positive mood in the conditions of modern cultural space (club, disco, concert hall): The performance of the collective is accompanied by an interesting video sequence specially prepared by the well-known Moscow video artist Roman Anikushin. Special project actions take place jointly with performances by the legendary art group "Sever."
