Austrian musician producer Gerhard Potuznik is considered one of the most talented and original participants in the electronic scene in Vienna, where this crowd formed around the labels Cheap, Sabotage and Morbid, well-known among music lovers around the world. He performs and records most often under the pseudonyms Potuznik and Gerhard Deluxxe. In accordance with his age, Gerhard abandoned post-punk exercises at the turn of the 80s and 90s, acquired synthesizers and samplers, and began experimenting in the field of weird techno and breakbeat fusion. However, despite the abundance of this kind of music already in the mid-90s, Potuznik’s products were distinguished by fashionable elements of disco, funk and acid house, that is, symbols of completely different eras. \nPotuznik’s music became truly fashionable and advanced starting in the late 90s, when, foreseeing the upcoming trends of the new millennium, he began creating a hybrid of 80s techno-pop and timeless mid-tempo electro, invented by Kraftwerk. It simultaneously broke free from the shackles of the downtempo sound with which Vienna was then widely associated, and made a vague reference to the craze of the day. Needless to say, we are talking about nothing other than electroclash!\nIt is not surprising that the first album, released under the pseudonym Potuznik, was called Amore Motore (Autobahn) and contained a rather cynical and brutal version of the famous hit of the same name by the already mentioned Kraftwerk. Now Gerhard started playing a kind of toughened casio-core - one of the varieties of the emerging electroclash, in which the basis is taken as the most simple, sometimes to the point of being somewhat “cheap”, sounds of drum machines, on which pop harmonies and melodies are superimposed. \nGD Luxxe is a project of Gerhard and his friend Ramon Bauer, which has been actively promoted for a couple of years now, and today has left behind the entire grimacing electroclash gang. This is how the cult Canadian label Suction, which considered it an honor to sign a contract with Gerhard, characterized the material of the latest records: “First of all, New Order is remembered with reverence, then a simply unimaginable range of influences and movements comes into play, among which, in the most surprising way today, industrial dance music stands out - EBM.” In other words, there is a feeling that at the moment Potuznik is busy inventing the next musical fashion, crossing styles, like the real Michurin! One can only shudder ecstatically at the prospect of Depeche Mode and Front 242 returning to dance floors.\nClub "Zapasnik/Art-Garbage"\nFebruary 21, Saturday - Gerhard Potuznik and his new project de GDLuxxe (Austria)\nwith the support of KAMA records (Izhevsk)
