Gigolo Night

The Advanced Music project, bringing the latest dance music to Moscow and attracting clients from important labels like Modular, Big Dada, and Turbo, this time introduces us to the history of electronic music. On October 3rd, the residents of the label International Deejay Gigolo Records will perform at Arma 17. About a year ago, the best album covers of records released on Gigolo records were exhibited at the London Art Vinyl Gallery to celebrate the label's tenth anniversary. It all started as a small recording studio of Munich DJ Hell, whose real name is Helmut Josef Geier, more commonly known as Dj Hell. The label began as a place for recording and releasing his tracks but by the late nineties, it was pressing records by Jeff Mills and Dave Clarke - now esteemed veterans. Young French electronic musicians Justice also started here. However, the label is best known for being the birthplace of the leading stars of electroclash, a phenomenon that turned the music industry upside down in 2001. This movement propelled the careers of Fischerspooner, Vitalic, Miss Kittin, Tiga, Peaches, and many others. The label's 230 releases represent DJ Hell's vision of club music - the music he heard in his head but wasn't hearing in clubs or on the radio, hence the launch of Gigolo. The label's goal was to associate German music with high quality, akin to German cars. At the Gigolo Night party by Advanced Music and Miller on October 3, 2008, at Arma 17, the following artists will perform: DJ Hell - DJ, musician, producer, godfather of the electroclash movement, and founder of Gigolo label. At 46, he continues to produce and regularly perform DJ sets, playing everywhere from Berlin Fashion Week to the legendary Space club in Ibiza. Richard Bartz - in the early nineties, Richard Bartz composed acid house, contributed to DJ Hell's album 'Geteert & Gefedert,' performed live at Ibiza's 'Cocoon' parties at Amnesia club, and at German raves Mayday. In 2002, Bartz signed with Gigolo Records, releasing several singles and an album, before launching his own label, Kurbel. His live performances are noteworthy for the packed stage of samplers, sequencers, and vintage synthesizers. Lastly, Seelenluft - a recent addition to Gigolo label, a Zurich electronic musician also known as Beat Solér. He has been remixed by Tiga and Headman and is known for his futuristic house mixed with flashy disco and synthetic rock in his sets. At the Advanced Music festival, he will likely also present material from his recent successful album 'Birds And Plants And Rocks And Things.'
