Headz.FM gains momentum at Shanti

Headz.FM parties at Shanti are gaining momentum and on March 19th, two dear foreign guests will play here: the beloved DJ of the Headz.FM team - Mad Mats from Stockholm, the owner of the Raw Fusion and G.A.M.M. labels, as well as Tony Nwachukwu from London, a member of the cult trip-hop project Attica Blues, an amazing producer and creator of the record companies Nepa Recordings and Burntprogress.

The style of these musicians is not limited by any boundaries - genres and directions take a back seat when it comes to excellent music. The combination of fantastic technique, stunning taste, and unique knowledge of the material - in short, put on your dancing shoes and hurry to listen.

Mad Mats (Raw Fusion / G.A.M.M., Sweden) - the name of Mad Mats is inseparably linked to two of his brainchildren - the Raw Fusion and G.A.M.M. labels, whose records remain objects of desire for DJs and music lovers around the world. Both labels are dedicated to “black” dance music in all its diverse manifestations - from dance jazz and Afro-Brazilian sound to hip-hop, electronic funk, neo-soul, soulful house, and Detroit techno. And if the pirate G.A.M.M. with its luxurious bootlegs was the shadowy side of Mats' activities he preferred not to talk much about, then Raw Fusion Recordings is a true pride of Scandinavian and global music, featuring such familiar names as Simbad, Restless Soul, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Freddie Cruger, Markus Enochson, Future Beat Investigators, Spiritual South, Beatfanatic, Povo, and many others.

The Raw Fusion story began with the eponymous party that Mats and his associates launched in Stockholm in the distant 1996. Over the years, this event has grown into a true cultural phenomenon, which is rightfully considered the best club institution not only in Stockholm, but also in the whole of Scandinavia, and Mats Karlson himself has repeatedly been recognized as the best DJ in Sweden. The list of musicians and DJs who have performed at Raw Fusion is awe-inspiring and reads like a sort of who is who in the world of contemporary music. Over the years of the party's existence, it has featured the grandfather of rap Gil Scott Heron and the godfather of acid jazz Giles Peterson, the late J Dilla and the living veterans of hip-hop A Tribe Called Quest, techno gurus Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, and Theo Parrish, house icons Joe Claussell, Osunlade, and Louie Vega, drum 'n' bass pride London Electricity, LTJ Bukem, Domu, and Bugz In The Attic. The list could go on endlessly - it is probably easier to say who is not on it.

In his free days from his Stockholm residency, Mats tours the world and has long been one of the most in-demand DJs on the scene. You can hear him at legendary events like Rainer Trüby's 'Root Down' or London's 'Inspiration Information', where he plays collectible soul and funk, at the Southport Weekender festival with a set of soulful house, at the New York Turntables On Hudson parties with select hip-hop, or at Madrid's Weekend club with pumping techno-boogie.

Tony Nwachukwu (Attica Blues / NEPA Recordings / Burntprogress, London) - Tony Nwachukwu's musical journey began back in 1994 when he formed the Attica Blues project together with his comrade Charlie Dark. Under this name, the musicians released several records and two full-length albums, released on the cult James Lavelle's Mo'Wax Records. These works were hugely popular, and the musicians enjoyed the deserved status as trendsetters in trip-hop and intelligent electronic music. In Tony's resume are remixes for Jazzanova, Spacek, Macy Gray, U.N.K.L.E., Robert Owens, DJ Krush, Cinematic Orchestra, and many others. The artist's works were released on labels such as Ninja Tune, Sonar Kollektiv, Compost, Mantis, Music for Speakers, Earth Projects, and 679.

Today, Tony heads his own production company, Burntprogress, supporting a new generation of beatmakers from around the world - on the label's compilations, you can find tracks from stars of the scene like Bullion, Floating Points, and Tom Trago. Tony's party with the telling name CDR has been held for many years at the famous London venue Plastic People and has the status of a real talent forge.
