Hot Chip went a long way with The Warning in terms of sophistication and clarity. An extremely simple motive and words, through the initial childish spontaneity, begin to seem like something magnificent and deep. “I wanted to write words simply, like in Kraftwerk songs. When I saw them at Brixton Academy, I was amazed how well they spoke about movement, light, radioactivity in just a few words,” says band member Alexis Taylor. "I initially wanted this album to sound like Can or Neu - to make strong music feel effortless, with polished keyboard sounds, the way Kraftwerk did. Our goal was simplicity and directness," adds Joe Goddard.
