Sound Industry

The musical group DEADУШКИ, with the participation of the Creative Association FULLDOZER, presents the festival of independent experimental music "Sound Industry", which will take place on MARCH 7, 2002 at RED CLUB (Poltavskaya St., 7).
On the evening of March 7 at 22:00, groups combining electronics and "live" sound will take the stage at Red Club. Modern musical trends demand from musicians a search for a new approach to sound, so festival participants will present experimental music in all its manifestations: from manipulations with microfrequency signals using super complex computer technologies to extracting sounds from iron springs and laundry dryers. Another requirement of the time is extreme polystylism of compositions, and through industrial noises one can sometimes hear intricate ethnic melodies, while dense walls of electronic samples may organically weave in jazz improvisations or hard guitar riffs. The participation of very different in spirit groups in the festival provides an opportunity not only to get a complete picture of the St. Petersburg electronic scene through its best representatives, but also to determine the benchmarks for the development of independent electronic music in the new millennium.
Participating groups include:
DEADУШКИ, THEODOR BASTARD, ЖЕЛЕЗНЫЙ КЛЫК, СИНТЕТИКА, КОКТЕЙЛЬ БРОМПТОНА, DUBSINTH and the unique trio from Finland, CLEANING WOMEN.
The audience will be presented with a collaborative work by DEADУШКИ and CLEANING WOMEN, who share a long creative friendship.
Before the performance of DEADУШКИ, a twenty-minute film "Mad Meat" by the Moscow creative studio "Defo" will be screened. The soundtrack of the film consists of songs from the album "PoRно".

More about the participants:
Group DEADУШКИ
The members of the group have been actively working for almost 20 years in various fields of contemporary independent music. Their latest project is an unpredictable mix of a wide variety of styles – from industrial and hardcore to ethnic and jazz, all while actively using electronic sound and modern computer technologies. DEADУШКИ have released 4 albums – 2 solo and 2 with such luminaries of Russian rock as B. Grebenshchikov and V. Butusov, who, unknowingly, became subjects of the cunning experiments of DEADУШКИ.
Group CLEANING WOMEN
A unique trio from Helsinki, unmatched on the European scene. In the uniforms of cleaning ladies, daring Finnish guys perform music on laundry dryers and other homemade instruments, using the most modern sound systems and processing. And all this is fun, interesting, and quite danceable. The performances of the group usually leave an indelible impression on listeners and viewers.
Group THEODOR BASTARD
In the past few years, the music of the project, currently consisting of five people, has transformed from something resembling a mix of acid-gospel with RED SNAPPER at the SKIF-5 festival in LDM through goa-trip and microwave to gothic hip-hop at the "Free Flight-4" festival and beyond. Now at THEODOR BASTARD concerts, electronic samples and modulations accompany live instruments. The unique vocals of Yana Veremiyeva and the percussion evoke slight associations with DEAD CAN DANCE, while the presence of thoughtful keyboards and a leisurely "groove" hints at music in the spirit of SCALA and MASSIVE ATTACK.
Group ЖЕЛЕЗНЫЙ КЛЫК
The project emerged in 2000 and initially consisted of one person – Anton Urazov (ex-MОРЛОКИ). The music of ЖЕЛЕЗНЫЙ КЛЫК represents a dark cocktail of heavy industrial psychedelia, elements of harsh extreme dance music, and a style later defined by the group as tripcore.
Group СИНТЕТИКА
An electronic project from St. Petersburg. Participants are Elena and Vladislav Tyulandyins. Creativity in the styles: ambient, techno, electro, cosmos. Started in 1997. The first release on CD in 2002. Album title: "100%", label Shaped Harmonics (Moscow).
Group КОКТЕЙЛЬ БРОМПТОНА
An experimental-electronic duo from St. Petersburg. Style: power-noise with a noticeable influence of minimal techno and new industrial wave. The participants define it as psychedelic polystylism with a hint of industrial-noise electronics.
Group DUBSINTH
DUBSINTH was formed in 1998 in St. Petersburg. The idea of this project was to create something new, unlike anything seen before. After many experiments with sound, there was a desire to experiment more and not adhere to various stylistic frameworks... DUBSINTH participated in the Free Flight festival. DUBSINTH was also featured on the first electronic compilation (ELECTRO быт), dedicated to St. Petersburg teams playing electronic music.
