Ivan Roudyk: "From Russia With Sound"

On October 8, the second issue of the compilation "From Russia With Sound" by Ivan Roudyk went on sale. As before, the main idea of the compilation is tracks recorded in Russia and neighboring countries, which were carefully selected by Ivan Roudyk from several hundred works submitted to him after the announcement of an open competition. Designed as an experiment, the "From Russia With Sound" series has proven that domestic dance music can compete with Western European varieties and can successfully be released on legal media even under the challenging conditions of the Russian audio market. "The initiative of Ivan Roudyk and Electrica Records is a great example for those who still do not understand that Russia has developed its own original culture of dance music," says Pavel Lesnevsky, one of the creators of the City Zen project – a participant in both issues of the compilation. – "Russian house is strengthening its positions, and serious and talented producers are emerging." A vivid confirmation of these words is the upcoming release of the City Zen album on the European label Pinkstar.

In terms of sound, the compilation can be classified as electro-house; however, in comparison with the first release, the range of styles in Vol. 2 is more diverse. "In our track, we found a balance between progressive-house and the trance melodics offered to us by our colleagues from Etiket," says Evgeny Svalov, the creator of the 4Mal project and co-author of the final track of the compilation, "Judging by the reactions of domestic and foreign DJs, they quite liked such a synthesis, which is pleasing."

"The compilation is gaining momentum, and its geography is expanding," comments Ivan Roudyk, "the tracks included in the second compilation were recorded by musicians not only in Moscow but also in Magadan, Yessentuki, and Ukraine. I want to thank everyone who sent their works. The volume and level of musical material are such that the next issue of "From Russia With Sound" will be released on two CDs, one of which will be dedicated to progressive house. Information on the beginning of track selection will be communicated separately."
