Jay Haze for the Lonely...

One of the most interesting figures in the contemporary electronic scene, Jay Haze is coming to Moscow at the invitation of the Shanti restaurant-club. The only set by Jay Haze in the capital is scheduled for September 28.
A native of Pennsylvania, Jay Haze has traveled so much through numerous cities and countries over the years of his musical journey that one might not even know which subculture to associate him with: Californian or Philadelphian, American or German? Currently, Jay Haze's port of registration is Berlin. However, this is not exact; today, the troubadour-vagabond plays in London at Fabric, tomorrow in Nuremberg at Rakete, or in Erfurt at Centrum. And who knows, maybe Moscow will call as well.
For Jay Haze, this wandering life began long before he achieved recognition in America and Europe as one of the most extraordinary musicians. In the mid-90s, in search of recognition, money, and a carefree life, an unknown young man changed not only many cities but also jobs: from unemployed and lackey in an amusement park to car sales manager and finally glassblower. Throughout this time, Jay Haze never forgot his main passion: music.
Haze's music is abstract, deep, and minimalist, yet also psychedelic, with clear influences from dub. He is not afraid of original sounds and experiments even with static noises. As a result, music is born that is equally captivating on the dance floor and for home listening. The attentive listener will certainly notice in his music elements reinterpreted from musicians such as King Tubby, Maurizio, Robert Hood, Herbert, and Ricardo Villalobos. His tracks continuously appear in the charts of DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, and Jeff Milligan.
Currently, Haze runs three record labels. Tuning Spork releases minimalist tech-house, with a strong funky element refracted through the prism of clicks'n'cuts and aimed at the dancefloor. His other label, Future Dub, specializes in techno-dub with clear influences from Jamaican music culture. Finally, his third label, Contexterrior, is entirely dedicated to friendly dancefloor ultra-minimal glitch techno, focusing on powerful bass lines cutting through layers of cacophonous sounds, occasionally contrasting with the warmth and softness of keyboards.
