John Digweed to Perform at Arma17

Listen to the world-class star John Digweed, electronic geniuses Eva Maria & Martine, and the trendy Detroit native Seth Troxler. Appreciate the photos by New York photographer Jake Dobkin and the masterpieces of anonymous street artists. Find yourself in a crowd of freaks, celebrities, fashion designers, musicians, and ordinary managers… Finally, simply feel like you're living in a big city full of interesting people and amusing things. You can do all of this in one evening by attending Outline - a multimedia festival of urban culture taking place on September 11th at the Arma17 club and its adjacent area. Outline will serve as a teaser for the eponymous large-scale festival scheduled for the summer of 2010.

Arma as a Center of Urban Culture

In the 19th century, when gas lamps began to replace kerosene ones on European streets, in Moscow, it was decided to build a gas holder plant on the site of the Kobylye Slobody gardens. The project of the first red-brick towers was entrusted to Rudolf Bernhardt. Tell the German architect back then that his workshops would become the epicenter of Moscow's cultural life in less than one and a half centuries, and he would hardly believe it. But for the people living in the 2009-model Russian capital, this fact requires no proof. For several years now, the closed territory of the Arm plant has been home to the best design studios in the metropolis, dance studios, DJ schools, and, most importantly, its leading nightclubs. At the initiative of one of them, Club Arma17, the first Outline festival will take place in Nizhniy Susalny Lane, featuring the three main manifestations of urban culture: electronic music, design, and street culture.

Arma17 club opened the new season with an announcement: now under its roof work three dance floors with polar moods - Gallery, Bar17, and Studio. This explains the unique opportunity to see in one night, in one place, both John Digweed - a universally recognized legend of the global electronic scene - and DJs upon whom the future development of this same scene depends. In this case, we are talking about the Dutch duo Eva Maria & Martine and the American Seth Troxler. The ultra-trendy girls Eva Maria and Martine (aka The Poofy’s), holders of the gold cup at the World-Championship Raving 2006, have gained fame thanks to their amazing musical taste and the crazy energy of their back-to-back sets. Residents of clubs Watergate, Weekend, Bar 25, and regulars on the programs of leading world festivals coming to Moscow for the first time. And regarding Seth Troxler (aka Thrill Cosby), it is enough to say that the Detroit native is confidently placed on par with Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss, two other distinguished Detroit masters of the new techno. Troxler's releases on labels such as Esperanza, Berettamusic Grey, and Items & Things (minus) easily confirm these words. The festival's headliner will be John Digweed, the pioneer of progressive house and the first resident of the Renaissance label, a lifelong holder of one of the top positions in the DJ Mag ranking, or simply a British DJ whose most fitting epithet is 'long-awaited'.

Design: Design Market Project

Design Market is a market created for one day, following the example of the famous European flea markets, where young independent designers will demonstrate their capabilities. As part of this project, there will be an exhibition by the relevant American street chronicler - Jake Dobkin.

Street Culture: Skate and Graffiti Park

The skate and graffiti park is a special area on the territory adjacent to the Arma17 club. The performance program is clear from the name itself: masterclasses from the best skateboarders in Moscow plus a forum on street design that will involve independent Russian graphic designers and illustrators.
