Kaito at Shanti's Birthday

On February 2, on its second birthday, "Shanti" proudly presents a live performance by Kaito. Kaito, or Hiroshi Watanabe, is a Japanese producer who lived in America for a long time and a rare electronic musician with an excellent musical education (Watanabe graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston with a major in composition). After college, Watanabe moved to New York and started working as a DJ, quickly gaining a great reputation and performing at clubs like Tunnel, Twilo, and Speed. He started releasing music under his own name and the pseudonym Nite, with several of his tracks reaching top positions on the US Billboard Club Play Chart. In March 1999, Watanabe decided to settle in Japan, where he began working as a music producer and making remixes. Watanabe came up with the new alias Kaito in 2001. Under this name, he started releasing music on the respected Cologne-based label Kompakt, where his extremely unique compositions continue to be released. They were labeled as nu-trance on "Kompakt" (a term that Kaito distances himself from in his interviews), but essentially, they are elements of early trance blended with beautiful New York deep house - delicate, melodic, and transparent sound collages. Watanabe often performs as a DJ (using his real name in this case), but at "Shanti," he will appear as Kaito, with a unique live performance. Hiroshi Watanabe is a man of many talents. Besides his successful music releases and performances (including at prestigious festivals like Sonar in Barcelona, Vision in Switzerland, and Popkomm in Cologne), Watanabe also writes music for films, plays, and fashion shows. He is also involved in photography - since 2002, he has had several exhibitions in Tokyo and even has a photo album that is sold together with a soundtrack.
