Movies at 'Canaries'

The venue "Just Like on the Canaries" is the main power spot of this summer, loved by all of Moscow's glamour, and the TimeOut magazine even featured it on the cover of its issue dedicated to the best outdoor restaurants. The "Canaries" hosted the after-party of the Moscow Film Festival (where the VIP zone was located), and almost all notable figures of the Moscow party scene celebrated their birthdays at the dock (at least those who were born in the summer).

"Canaries" has long promised to show movies under the open sky; August is the time for fulfilling promises. Starting August 6, we begin the "Canary Film Festival": every evening from Monday to Wednesday, different pleasant people will play DVDs from their collections. In forming the program, we tried to adhere as closely as possible to the chosen ideological course of "without fanaticism." No concepts, no deep parallels or dedications to the late Bergman and Antonioni. Each member of the community www.s-11.ru, which has a direct relationship with "Canaries" and the "Soljanka" club, has chosen their favorite films. From the formed collection, a schedule has been developed: after 10 PM (it’s already dark at this time in August), we will screen two movies in the pool area. One will be more serious, and the other will be lighter and more fun. By the way, from August the "Canaries" will also feature nighttime cuisine.

In this relaxed atmosphere of friendly screenings, we plan to stay until September. In the first month of autumn, we will also engage film critics – Roma Volobuev, Stas Rostotsky, and organize a showing of British short films from Futureshorts. In general, it won't be boring. By the end of the festival, we will present a golden fern branch to the filmmaker whose film attracted the most viewers.
