Concert. Toob - Playing with Club Culture
Клубные российские · 22.08.2005
Throughout the history of the iconic jazz trio Red Snapper, the musicians managed to visit Moscow in 2001 and forever captivate the hearts of Russian music lovers. Today, the story of the famous Red Snapper band has ended, and its founder Rich Thair no longer drums under the reliable wing of Warp Records. Instead, he now produces deep house music and goes on tour worldwide with his new project, Toob. So if you haven't yet learned how to spell Toob, that is, how to write the name of the group correctly, hurry up, because the group is already heading towards Moscow. TOOb consists of Richard Thair, founder of Red Snapper, and his buddy JakeOne, the main boss of Flameboy Records. Their unbreakable union combines turntables and drums, as JakeOne is a master of electronic improvisation, while Rich Thair is a virtuoso of live drumming. Their debut album "How to Spell TOOb..." plays with club culture: on one hand, it's a compilation of dance tracks, on the other, it features melodies and top-quality songs. The album's sound is a whimsical blend of the most positive achievements of electronica, where rhythmic dub, house, electro, or breakbeat suddenly transform into song-like smooth movements. Their first single was released on Groovetech Records, and the full album on Flameboy Records. Success follows them naturally, given their impressive track record. Rich Thair has been composing music since the early '90s, he is a former co-owner of Flaw Recordings, producer of two albums for Aloof, and percussionist in several bands such as Sabres of Paradise, The Beloved!, and The Sandals. He's done remixes for Garbage, David Holmes, Howie B, and performed with them worldwide. He has played drums with Hybrid, Radioactiveman, Two Lone Swordsmen, and Rennie Pilgrim. While he once owned a club in Bristol called Remote Control, today he collaborates with recent Moscow guest Meat Katie and DJs every weekend in Europe or England. The group Toob leads an equally enjoyable lifestyle: touring London's trendiest clubs like Fabric, Cargo, Chew The Fat, and performing at international festivals from Istanbul to Bristol. Toob concert at Club "16 Tons" on August 27th. Starts at 11:00 PM.
