Kutiman в Russia

In early autumn of 2008, Citadel Records released the debut album of the young Israeli musician Ophir Kutiel (stage name, as well as the name of the release, is Kutiman). He started working on the album in 2005, a few years after moving to Tel Aviv from the small village of Zichron in the north of the country. Kutiman's unique style draws heavily from funk, hip-hop, afrobeat, reggae, psychedelic rock, and even folk, yet does not align with any of these genres. Many musicians participated in the recording of the album (Elran Dekel, Karolina, Dotan Segal, Shlomi Alon, Ronen Sabbo, and others), but despite this, 90% of the 13 tracks on it are Kutiman's creation. A composer, producer, and the author of lyrics for several songs, in his debut release, he also plays most of the musical instruments: guitar, bass guitar, drums, percussion, and keyboards. In November 2007, Kutiman released his album on the German label Melting Pot Music; soon the release gained popularity in Europe, Japan, and Australia. In February 2008, the album was released in the USA. Just a few months later, the "kaleidoscopic" music from Tel Aviv will be heard in Russia.
