Last.fm will become paid

Internet radio Last.fm will soon become a paid service in all countries except the USA, UK, and Germany. The monthly subscription cost will be 3 euros. Before placing an order, users will be able to preview up to 30 tracks in trial mode. Free access will remain available for recommendations, charts, artist biographies, event listings, and music videos.

The paid listening system has existed before but was not mandatory. By paying 2.5 euros, site users were exempt from viewing ads. They could also create personal playlists and were the first to access the radio's servers and new features.

Around 30 million people worldwide use Last.fm services each month. The radio collaborates with about 280,000 different labels and artists, providing 7 million tracks for broadcast.

Last.fm will transition to the new mode of operation in the coming weeks.
