Le Hammond Inferno is Markus (Marcus Liesenfeld) and Holger (Holger Beier), the owners of Bungalow Records, one of the most authoritative labels in the dance music industry. Since the early 90s, Le Hammond Inferno has been establishing connections with the music industry worldwide and initially gained popularity as DJs. They occasionally toured as a 'supporting act' with their friends Blur, Stereolab, Saint Etienne, Pizzicato 5, Dimitri From Paris, and others. Holger and Markus are especially beloved in Japan: they are invited so frequently that their visits to the Land of the Rising Sun outnumber those of their old countrymen, Scorpions. Holger and Markus founded the small but internationally active label Bungalow back in 1995. The idea of establishing their own music company arose after they, as DJs and co-founders of the club 'Easy-Listening-Welle', received orders from several major corporations to revive dusty film reels from the archives dating back to the 50s. After consultations with the more experienced colleague Christof Ellinghaus, head of the modern-oriented electro-rock label City Slang, they began implementing their conceptual plan. Their first album 'Easy Leasing Superstar' was released in Japan on Escalator Records. Later, the self-titled single was released in Europe, with its main hit featured in a commercial for a computer game from Nike. However, except for a couple of tracks, it was a completely different record. If you've heard a few Bungalow releases, you don't need an introduction to the first European record by Le Hammond Inferno, 'My First Political Dance Album,' as it embodies the essence of the label. It contains the music revered by Holger and Markus: funk, groove, disco, house, breakbeat, Latin, hip-hop, pop, punk - all encapsulated in one album's embrace in a CONTEMPORARY, PROGRESSIVE sound. The album blurs and merges style boundaries, turning everything into the sound of the year 2000. If you truly love music, you simply must listen to this record. This is the intellectual side of Le Hammond Inferno. However, more importantly, 'My First Political Dance Album' is full of all kinds of jokes. Music as entertainment. For the head. For the feet. For the hips, ultimately. In terms of fun dance music, Le Hammond Inferno outshine all competitors single-handedly, quite literally - both of them are left-handed. This frenzied, ultra-energetic attack with absurdly punked guitars will even rile up the patrons of the bards' cafe 'The Capercaillie's Nest.' Particularly noteworthy are the hefty, meaty 'Herbert' (probably named after the renowned DJ Matthew Herbert) and the loose male anthem 'Speech Defects,' sung in Japanese by the vocalist of the recently performing in Novosibirsk group Rechenzentrum, Mark. Alongside their peculiar big beat reminiscent of the best of Groove Armada, alongside the frantic house, there are calm, albeit intricate, songs suitable for home listening. Moreover, the first track can be used as a primer for a budding DJ: a mechanical voice lists all the trendiest record labels on both sides of the Atlantic for a minute (naturally, including Bungalow) right after the words 'Find and destroy the following objects...' Le Hammond Inferno's first visit to Russia was in 2000 when they performed at the 'Giusto' club. Le Hammond Inferno did remixes for the following groups: Saint Etienne, Stereo Total, Die Sterne, Pizzicato Five, 5th Garden, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Neil & Iraiza, Jim Avignon, Gautsch, Andreas Dorau, Herbert Gronemeyer, Experimental Pop Band, Blochin 81, Balanco, Baxendale, Montefiori Cocktail, Plastilina Mosh (Mexico). Le Hammond Inferno's compositions are featured on the following compilations: 'Freestyle Files' (K7), 'Music For Modern Living' (Lounge Records), 'New Testament...3' (Unique Records), 'Premier CD' (Escalator), 'Escape 1999' (Escalator), 'Transmusicales' (Transmusicales), 'Dancing at the Disco' (EMI), 'Switched on - The cool sound of advertising' (Telstar), 'All systems are gogo - Ursula 1000' (18th street lounge), 'Cafe Bizarre' (Primeros Passitos), 'Berlin/Tokyo-Compilation' (Berlin/Tokyo). November 7, 11:00 PM, club 'Territoria'.
