The current guest of Funk Explosion, DJ Bazil, was previously better known in hip-hop circles as a talented scratch DJ. He has worked with most of the MCs in the northern capital, including Da108, Ikambi Gwa Gwa, Krec, Smoki Mo, Green Syndrome, Umbriaco, and X-Team. Having gained an impeccable reputation in the hip-hop community, Baz has seriously become passionate about funk and started collecting seven-inch records. 'These little 7-inch records, widely used in the 60s-70s, carry a rich legacy of funk music that was almost forgotten in the 80s era. But! It is thanks to hip-hop artists sampling melodies from old albums and forty-fives that funk has become relevant again, appearing on dance floors and inspiring many modern bands to create. Funk is expression, immediacy, and animalistic groove that makes your insides vibrate!' - says Bazil. We can only add that a similar animalistic groove has been knocking out DJ Shadow for many years, touring the world with his performances at the junction of funk and hip-hop.
