Ludovic Llorca was born in 1974. At a young age, he enjoys super hits of disco and house, dancing at discos with his mother, who buys records by the famous Donna Summer and Diana Ross. Soon after, Ludovic discovers Inner City and Big Fun. As for his father, he is a representative of the first generation of programmers and, when his son turns 11, gives him a computer. Llorca begins to take his first steps on the Commodore 64, conducting sound experiments like many budding musician-computer whizzes, often participating in video game competitions.
This will influence his entire life and reflect in his working style, resembling more of a programmer than a pure composer. Up until the early 90s, Ludovic constantly changes computers, until technological progress allows him to turn his home studio into a real recording studio with professional sound. Like a craftsman in his workshop, he works alone, performing all operations on a PC and spending an enormous amount of time polishing his works.
In 1995, Llorca meets David Duriez (with whom he later creates the label Brique Rouge and the group Les Maçons De La Musique) and starts his DJ career. Seizing the opportunity, they release several maxi-singles under various pseudonyms on the Lillois label. In 1997, he sends a demo tape to F-Communication, where it is immediately noticed by Eric Morand. The first dance EP Can't Take It is released in July, followed immediately in early '98 by Little Computer People, where Ludovic experiments with blending club beats and jazz. His third maxi-single The End is highly praised by critics and is released in early 2000. Here, the priority was given to downtempo compositions using samples to create a melody. The main point, Ludovic notes, is that the written music should be music of the soul, sincere, simple, and natural.
Continuing to DJ, Llorca performs at numerous festivals (Montreux in '98, Transmusicales in '99, Devenir in '97, '98, and '99), as well as at all major clubs around the world (Le Fuse in Brussels, The End in London, Lux in Lisbon, and Blue Note Club in Tokyo). His mixes are precise and rich with very musical tracks and groove rhythms, ultimately creating a funky-soul impression.
In October 2001, immediately after the release of his first album New Comer, Llorca goes on tour with musicians like César Poirier (saxophone), Bruno Vuillon (bass/contrabass), Marc Benhamou (Rhodes Fender), Philippe Monrose (percussion), and, of course, vocalist Lady Bird. Since then, Ludovic Llorca and his team have performed worldwide, even opening for Jamiroquai in Australia at six concerts (February 2002). On November 1st, a single concert by Llorca will take place at the Moscow club GOA, where he will perform as a DJ.
