Love Parade 2009 canceled

The German Love Parade can safely be crossed off the 2009 festival calendar. The event was canceled by the decision of the local authorities. It is worth noting that this is not the first problem with organizing the festival. In 2004 and 2005, it was canceled due to a lack of financial resources and an excess of trash left after the rave on the streets of the German capital. In 2007, Love Parade moved from Berlin to Essen, and a year later attracted around 1.6 million people to Dortmund. This summer, the festival organizers hoped to gather techno fans in the city of Bochum. However, local authorities announced that they were not ready to host such a number of guests due to a prolonged renovation of a railway station. The organizers, in turn, refused to search for a new location and decided to take a break until 2010, when Love Parade will reach Duisburg. Meanwhile, it was precisely in July 2009 that Love Parade was supposed to mark its anniversary. After all, exactly 20 years ago, a few months after the fall of the Berlin Wall, 150 people led by DJ Dr. Motte gathered at Kurfurstendamm Square to lead a true peaceful revolution in music.
