Love parade. Revolution is canceled

When two years ago San Francisco had its own love parade, it immediately acquired the status of the most important event in the city's life. It was not just a musical marathon. Like the Berlin love parade, the street procession in San Francisco was intended to instill in people a desire for peace, mutual understanding, and tolerance in defense of those moral values that are at risk of being destroyed in the United States lately. Dance culture and politics do not always find a common language, and in the case of the love parade in San Francisco, they even contradict each other. This life-affirming event goes against the policy of the George Bush administration, which aims to create an atmosphere of fear in the country. That is why the deafening news of the decision by the Berlin administration to cancel the rave in San Francisco has resonated in a way that no cancellation in the world has ever had before. It is not just the cancellation of a rave. The city lost its largest free, socially-political event, which could have potentially offered a new way of thinking to many young people in San Francisco.
