Italian-Swiss Fabio Antoniali, known by his DJ pseudonym Mad Mark, was born on May 16, 1975, and discovered his passion for music at an early age. At the age of 12, Mad Mark got interested in playing the synthesizer, and his favorite musicians at that time were Depeche Mode and Jean-Michel Jarre. Soon, his parents gifted him a synthesizer, marking the first step in his musical career.
Over time, he acquired additional equipment for his small studio, and in a short time, he created his first demo tracks. Working at school discos and small parties, he met a producer from the well-known music label Fresh Musik Label, who became interested in releasing one of his tracks. Although that track was never released due to a lack of technical equipment in Mad Mark's home studio, an important contact was established that influenced his creative future.
After successfully graduating in electronics, Mad Mark accepted an offer from DJ BoBo Gutze Gautschi to participate in building a music studio for the Fresh Musik Label. At the same time, he received additional education as a sound engineer, which greatly helped him in his further work. This is where his professional DJ career began. Together with his friend Sven Luv, Mad Mark worked as a resident DJ at the Oltner Terminus club and organized his own House parties in his hometown of Olten. Later, he was invited to work all over Switzerland in venues such as House Café, Jail, Heaven Club, and others.
In 1996, Mad Mark met DJ Antoine from Basel, who had recently recorded his first track “Sound of my life.” DJ Antoine needed another remix for this track, which was recorded by Mad Mark in a short period. This record was released on the Dutch label “Anvers Records” and found its way into many well-known samplers. After the subsequent successful releases on popular labels, primarily on “Groove Inc.,” Mad Mark became the center of attention for many music clubs and party organizers. Thus, by 1997, Mad Mark was working in the best clubs in Switzerland, such as Sensor Club, Paradise (Zurich), Private House (Luzern), and many others.
As a result of the success of his music productions, more and more other DJs and producers sought collaboration with him. Soon, Mad Mark was working in the Trance/Techno style with Dream, Energy, Max B. Grant, and in House music with DJ Antoine, Leon Klein, EDX, and many others.
Over time, Mad Mark, together with DJ Antoine, founded his own production company “Global Productions GmbH” as well as its publishing arm “100% Hype.” Mad Mark continuously works in clubs across Switzerland like Oxa, House Café, Terminus (Olten), Prince (Lugano), Kaufleuten (Zürich) and at Houseplosion, Albisriederhaus, HOUSEW@RP, Groove Lift parties. This is a perfect opportunity to observe the audience’s reaction to his latest music production.
Mad Mark characterizes his musical style as House, although his interests are diverse, and he equally enjoys both Garage and Vocal House as well as tracks in the style of Progressive and Tribal House. In short, any music that gets the crowd going.
In 2000, DJ Antoine and Mad Mark recorded the single “DJ Antoine vs. Mad Mark – (You’re my) Disco Sensation,” which was released on popular labels like Zeitgeist, Oxyd, NoiseTraxx, Spinnin’. Numerous remixes followed, such as “Spike – Never gonna give you up” and “Mr. Mike – Let’s do it again” (on the Peppermint Jam label).
In the summer of 2001, especially for the “PopKomm” festival, and as a result of collaboration with BMG Ariola München, a hit titled “Robin S. – Show me love – 2001 Remixes” was released on the joint label of DJ Antoine and Mad Mark. This first release on the label “Egoist” became a sensation, even though the planned debut single “Orange – Can you feel it” was quickly bought out by East/West/Warner and therefore was not initially released on the “Egoist” label.
Following this successful musical release, Mad Mark could be heard in clubs all over Europe, such as Phonodrome in Hamburg or Dragon Club in Cologne. He also did not overlook his native Switzerland - Highlights in Switzerland in 2001 featuring Mad Mark included the series of parties: Motion, Energy, Mainstation, and of course Houseworks in clubs like Terminus, H2O, Kaufleuten, Level Club, and others.
In 2002 and 2003, Mad Mark performed almost in every club in Switzerland, as well as in Europe: in Italy, Germany, Spain, etc. As a producer and label owner, he released numerous records and collaborative music projects that gained worldwide popularity with DJs like Lee-Cabrera “Shake It (Move A Little Closer),” Axwell “So Right” (under the pseudonym Jetlag) or Praise Cats feat. Andrea Love “Shined On Me” (with his own remix DJ Antoine vs Mad Mark). As a result of these and other hits in the House style, the labels “Egoiste” and “Houseworks” secured their strong position and reputation in the global music market.
At the same time, Mad Mark recorded the track “Happiness” for the album of popular Swiss singer “Nubya” in the Funk-House style. This album, titled “My Wish,” stayed in the charts for many weeks, and the track was heard everywhere on the radio.
Finally, after countless music productions under the projects like DJ Antoine vs Mad Mark, Global Brothers, The House Rockers, and also recorded tracks for other musicians, the time has come for the Debut-Single Mad Mark “Ain’t No Big Thing,” which was first released on the label “Session Recordings” and later licensed for the Belgian label “Musique De Salon.” This single made its way into many renowned compilations worldwide.
In 2004, Mad Mark's popularity continues to grow, and he performs in Eastern Europe in Warsaw (Poland) and Kyiv (Ukraine). The track “Dicko Inferno,” recorded by DJ Antoine vs Mad Mark along with Syndi Lauper, ranks among the most popular tracks of 2004, presented at the Winter Music Conference in Miami.
In 2005, a remix of Mad Mark and Aston Martinez on the track “Aurora,” recorded by Alex Neri (“Planet Funk”), is planned to be released, which has gained popularity in clubs across Europe. Release Session 007 will also include the track “Eskalation.”
Currently, work is underway on many other projects, including the release of DJ Antoine’s debut album, the release of two tracks in collaboration with “WaWa,” recording vocals for a track together with Jan 45 Carey (Elan Records), and others.
