Клубные российские · 12.09.2005
DJ Martin Morales is famous for mixing lively Cuban funk or 70s Latin disco in a modern twist among the latest house hits in his sets. Martin was the first DJ to play an 'African mix' live on BBC Radio 1. He is a resident at three English clubs and owns the record label Ocho. Martin is originally from Peru. His mother is of Spanish-American descent and married an Englishman. Martin's uncle is one of Peru's finest poets, Cesar Vallejo. Due to the unstable political situation, his family moved to England when he was 11. Starting as a radio DJ in Leeds, Martin went on to become a resident at Vague club, spent a year in Mexico introducing the local audience to jungle and drum and bass, blending these styles with elements of traditional Latin American and African music. Martin produced compilations such as 'La Linea - Future Latin Beats', 'Tobacco & Rum', 'World Chill', 'Indestructible Asian Beats', 'Future World Funk', 'Discoteca', and toured the world promoting music that combines modern electronic dance music with ethnic masterpieces from Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Recently, Martin Morales has been performing as a resident at Cuba club (Cardiff), The Gatehouse (Derby), and Ocho parties at Cargo club in London. '...I present a complete, integral sound where Afro-Latin-house, ethnic, and radically left-wing Latin American rhythms intertwine. Emerging in situations permeated by terrorism, political struggles, and violence, music was an escape from all of that. It constantly helps me, giving meaning and purpose to life. I introduce people worldwide to Latin, African, and ethnic sounds through dance music. I believe that just like reggae in the 80s, Latin American and ethnic rhythms can become the foundation of dance music in the coming years' (Martin Morales). Performing on September 16 and 17 at the entertainment center 'Young Guard - New Generation'. Dmitrovskoe highway, bldg. 27 (200 meters from Timiryazevskaya metro station).
