Mathew Jonson presents Cobblestone Jazz
Клубные российские · 11.07.2006
Mathew Jonson learned to play drums, clarinet, and piano from childhood. At the age of 11, he played in an orchestra with other young musicians and earned a reputation as a talented improviser. Mathew's father was interested in electronic music, which led the young musician to learn how to work with synthesizers and other instruments of the new wave. From the ages of 12 to 17, he experimented with computer music production programs and already in his teenage years, Mathew Jonson performed in Vancouver, Victoria, and other cities. Matt is known and loved for his talent in creating emotionally rich, deep, and interesting music. His collaborations with Modern Deep Left Quartet and Perlon brought him worldwide fame, allowing him to travel to Geneva to work with Luciano, and tour worldwide with the Cobblestone Jazz project. For the past four years, alongside programmer Tyger Dhula and Daniel Tate on keys and vocoder, they have been performing electronic music live along the East Coast of British Columbia. Their releases on 'Itiswhatitis,' 'Minus,' and 'Substatic' have brought the trio global recognition. Cobblestone Jazz's musical style is a fusion of electronic elements and live performance. Cobblestone is quite an unusual phenomenon for our time—they focus on live performance as much as studio work. Daniel Tate, with his jazz music background, actively contributes to their live performances. Cobblestone's music reflects influences from almost every music genre, from jazz and dub to breakbeat and minimal techno, with each style having its own special place.
