Migz - International Festival of Contemporary Music and Media Art
Музыкальные российские · 01.09.2008
On September 19 and 20, the first international festival of contemporary music and media art Migz 2008 will take place in Moscow. Originating twenty years ago from the spontaneous adoption of new technologies, the movement has evolved into a new form of art today that combines electronic music, video art, and elements of theatrical performances. What used to be a usual 'club night' has transformed into a captivating artistic experiment where people on the dance floor become immediate co-authors of the show. This phenomenon has become the subject of research and heated debates. The new artistic environment has provided the foundation for numerous festivals gathering more and more interested audiences year by year. Russia is extraordinarily rich in talents who feel quite comfortable in this new artistic space. However, as usual, artists experience an extraordinary lack of communication, desperately needing opportunities for free idea exchange and sharing experiences. This deficiency is intended to be addressed by the international festival of contemporary music and media art Migz, which will take place in Moscow for the first time on September 19-20, 2008. The festival organizers, the oldest club portal in the country 44100Hz and Red Bull Music Academy, have drawn inspiration from their colleagues, founders of the renowned festivals Sonar and Amsterdam Dance Event. Migz is not limited to one day or one venue: four diverse venues are involved in the festival events, with Migz events clearly divided into 'day' and 'night' programs. The festival kicks off on the night of September 19: at Club Arma 17, the official opening of Migz will feature stars from the Get Physical label, the Berlin project M.A.N.D.Y., and the veteran of the Moscow techno scene DJ Volodya Trapeznikov. On September 20, the daytime program of the festival will take place at the cultural center 35 mm (Pokrovka, 47). Three stages will be set up for performances by electronic musicians, including Scsi-9, Masha Era, Jorg Burger, Pole, Scott, Mujuice, B-voice and KHz, Korablove, Low Budget Family, Arkady Air & Fligershule, Marsha Smith, Bionaut, Deepology, Hobos, National Techno, Sapunov, Roman Rosic, Kubikov, Sanchez, Zorkin, Grad, Kompas-Vrubel, U.S.O.M, Andriesh, Pascal Bideau, Dsh-Dsh, Acidburn, as well as MigzSpace exhibition stands, press offices, and MigzClass lecture halls. The festival includes seminars with representatives from Red Bull Music Academy, DJ Groove School of Electronic Music, RMA, and Kompakt label. The festival will move to Club Shanti and the small dance floor of Gaudi Club on the night of September 20: performances by Scott, Pascal Bideau (Shanti), Andriesh, Arkady Air, Magic B (Gaudi Club) will take place here.
