Modeler-Constructor Richard Bartz in the City
Клубные российские · 24.04.2006
On April 29, German electronic musician Richard Bartz will perform at the club 'Gorod' - a unique resident of the 'Cocoon' parties at Amnesia club in Ibiza, using synthesizers of his own production in his performances, a favorite of techno luminaries Sven Vath and DJ Hell. Born in Munich, Richard Bartz first heard techno in 1991 at a party where he met the legendary German, the owner of the label International DeeJay Gigolos, DJ Hell. Richard and Hell became friends: Bartz participated in the production of DJ Hell's album 'Geteert & Gefedert' and released his works on the German's sub-label Disko B. Initially, Richard wrote a rather commercial mix of acid house and techno under the pseudonym Acid Scout, releasing the record '4 Degrees' first, followed by the albums 'Safari' and 'Sci-Fi'. Critics heard soul music notes in these works of Richard, so they hastened to extravagantly dub the German's early work as 'techno-soul'. However, in 1995, Bartz founded his own label Kurbel, collaborated with Sebastian Nissen, who worked with Kraftwerk, and started creating slightly different music. Nissen taught Richard not only to record electronic loops on drum machines and synthesizers, but to modify the synthesizers themselves. For the last ten years, the German has been in the laboratory, tinkering with 'hardware': crafting, soldering, inventing, and ultimately creating equipment with new capabilities. In 1998, Bartz released the vinyl 'Subway' on the Kanzleramt label, solidifying his reputation on the European club scene, but the real breakthrough was the latest album 'Big', which the German released in early 2006. 'Big' is not just the album's title, but the name of the analog synthesizer system constructed by Bartz, over which he worked for the past decade. As critics claim, the dense sound on Richard's latest LP can only be found in late 80s recordings made on 4-channel tape recorders. It should be noted that Richard Bartz never performs as a DJ, playing from records or CDs; he prefers to surround himself with his gear and perform 'live'.
