Moscow in Moloko

Moloko belongs to a new generation of British musicians who have forever changed the face of modern pop music. Together with their colleagues from Massive Attack, Portishead, and Palp, the leaders of the group Roisin Murphy and Mark Brydon are considered one of the creators of the progressive "sound of the '90s." They do not confine themselves to one style, absorbing everything good that pop music has offered in the last 30 years. Classic rock, funk, disco, the latest achievements in electronic music - all of this is reflected in the works of the group. Their main hit, Sing It Back, was enthusiastically accepted by both classic rock fans and the dancing youth. The former were conquered by the sophisticated stylization of the song to famous hits of the disco era. The latter were struck by the dance remix by DJ Boris Dlugach, which became hit No. 1 in Ibiza in 1998.
Today, after the release of their fourth studio album Statue in spring 2003, Moloko is at the peak of their popularity. In Europe, the group is literally being torn apart. This summer they were headliners at almost all major European festivals. The single Never Enough, lightly revisited by the remixing hands of Boris Dlugach, has once again become a big hit at the trendiest discotheques in Ibiza.
In Russia, the album Statue also achieved significant success. Reviews of the disc were published in almost all of the country’s music magazines. The tone of the articles was ecstatic - many critics called this work one of the best albums of 2003. For three months, the disc was ranked first in sales at all major stores in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The volumes of "pirated" copies of the disc are beyond calculation. However, according to experts' forecasts, illegal sales of Statue in Russia totaled about 100 thousand copies.
In spring 2004, the group will begin a tour. The challenge of transferring their complex studio sound to the concert stage has been brilliantly solved. In the tour, Roisin Murphy and Mark Brydon are supported by 10 session musicians, reproducing the original sound of the group in full.
