The editors of TimeOut London added that it was quite strange of them to call him a "newbie" in 2003. In fact, Smith has long been a veteran of the British DJ guard, playing for about 10 years, friends with X-press2, Mr. C, and Matthew Bushawka. Giles was one of the first to notice promising Dan Genasia and Jerome Pacman (and now they overshadow their patron). By 2006, three years had passed since the founding of Secretsundaze – cult summer Sunday parties held in various open-air clubs, starting at four in the afternoon and ending closer to midnight. But queues remain a distinctive feature: in May, a few hours before the start of the first party this year, 500 people were already lined up at the entrance waiting for the doors to open.
"Not everyone passes face control," says the host, promoter Oleg Magdi, who is organizing a set for Smith this Saturday in Moscow. "Entry there is practically free – 3 pounds or something. Giles doesn't care at all about promoting his events, although the most beautiful girls in London go to him and sometimes Ewan McGregor shows up - continues Oleg, - All DJs consider it an honor to come to Secretsundaze on Sunday after performing on Saturday somewhere in Fabric. Damian Lazarus, Ivan Smagghe, Tiefshwarz often play at Smith's parties."
Giles's Secretsundaze have not become a tourist attraction, like The Gallery club or Hed Kandi parties. Smith's events are an authentic British product aimed at the domestic market, remaining in the underground for the same reason as English tea with milk. Indeed, not everyone will appreciate the combination of bergamot and cream, just as not everyone understands the motivation behind Sunday day parties. And the reason why London’s Time Out, which has never written about Secretsundaze and suddenly honored Giles with the title of best DJ, can only be explained by the journalists' unwillingness to reveal their favorite haunts to readers.
