RBMA Music Academy - DJ Mecca
Музыкальные зарубежные · 13.04.2006
The adventure begins again. In 2006, for the ninth time, the Red Bull Music Academy will be held in Melbourne, Australia. Year after year, the Music Academy brings together DJs and musicians from around the world to exchange experiences, ideas, creative inspiration, and new musical trends. The Academy is not a competition, and there are no 'sacred monsters' of the music industry in the jury. The academy does not issue certificates or diplomas; completing it does not guarantee an instant career in the music industry. But what RBMA participants receive is much more valuable than diplomas and certificates - unique knowledge, priceless experience, and interaction with famous people who are hard to reach in ordinary life. Learning takes place in an informal atmosphere; it is not a school or institute where you have to sit at a desk and listen to boring lectures. You won't find such a curriculum and educational methodology anywhere else. The two-week training at the academy aims to cover all the main aspects of DJ culture, including music history, technology, production, and various aspects of the music business. After the lecture sessions and Q&A series, participants work in state-of-the-art studios and in the evenings play their music at the city's best clubs. Participants also have the opportunity to broadcast their tracks live on RBMA Radio - the academy's internet radio. Last year in Seattle, many invited lecturers representing various musical genres shared how to succeed in the music field, and imparted their experience and mastery secrets. The academy's instructors include living legends and young stars, such as musicians and representatives of major labels, journalists, and creators of pirate radio stations. At different times, lecturers at the Academy included Atom Heart, Bob Moog, Mad Mike (UR), The Roots, Jiles Peterson, Roman Flugel, Michal Mayer, Carl Craig, Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, and many others. The full list of lecturers can be found on the RedBull Music Academy website. Any DJ or musician seriously interested in music and looking to make a career in the music industry can become an RBMA participant. An essential requirement for participation in RBMA is unconventional thinking and interest in various musical genres, as the more unusual your musical style and original your ideas, the greater your chances of getting into the Academy. Tuition, flights, and accommodation are covered by the Red Bull Music Academy. Each year, the Music Academy selects 60 participants from around the world. Russian participants have been invited to the academy three times. In 2003, DJ Asya represented Russia in Cape Town, and in 2004, DJ Asya and Ilya Rasskazov were invited to Rome. Last year, Nina Kraviz aka DJ Kraviz was named the Russian finalist. Becoming an RBMA finalist was not easy - the 'Academy' received 2500 applications from around the world, but only 60 participants were invited. This year, all winners will be invited to Melbourne for one of two sessions: September 24 - October 6, 2006, and October 15 - October 27, 2006. The application process is extremely simple - you need to download the application form either from the RBMA website or the Russian Red Bull website, fill it out in English, record a 30-minute disc, attach your photos, and send everything either to Munich at: Red Bull Music Academy, Klenzestr. 40 RGB, 80469 Munich, Germany [email protected], or bring or send it to the Moscow office of the Red Bull company: 109004, Moscow, ul. Stanislavskogo 21/2, attn Vladimir Smerkis, tel. (495)937-8383, ext.4206. For more information, you can contact Nina Kraviz at [email protected]. The deadline for applications is limited: from April 14 to June 3, 2006.
