DC10 Closed Again in Ibiza

On October 6, the authorities of Ibiza closed the club DC10 just 10 minutes before the start of the weekly Monday party Circoloco, behind which stand well-known true electronic music fans Tania Vulcano and Luciano. The venue owners face a one-year license revocation and a fine of €300,000.

DC10 was already closed at the beginning of the club season for two months until August. However, the process for this decision started back in 2007. Considering the slow pace of legal proceedings against the disgraced club, the new case could drag on indefinitely. And most likely, if DC10 reopens its doors, it will be in the best case scenario only in 2010.

Among the main accusations are exceeding the permissible number of people at events, as well as 'sound pollution.' The claims may seem quite strange, considering the island's long history and the specificity of Ibiza as the main summer music resort. It is worth adding that in the last year, all clubs on the island have faced tightening conditions for holding events. Perhaps the most unpleasant was the new law mandating clubs to close at 6 am.

The project participants refer to what happened as the machinations of the disco mafia, persecutions by the new government, or the consequences of corruption among local officials. They fear that in a couple of years, the island will become the second St. Tropez.

The rave liturgy to close the legendary club, which started ten years ago as a roadside DJ bar, is reportedly scheduled for October 13, provided that permission is obtained from the authorities in the next couple of days.
