No holiday in Moscow is prepared with such thoroughness as New Year. Traditionally, this is the main holiday in the country, and therefore people expect something new and interesting from the first night of the new year. In the upcoming 2004 year, XIII and the promotional union Organised Kaos will not disappoint the public's expectations. On December 31, a New Year's ball will take place, promising to be the main sensation of the year. It will be an ideal New Year fairy tale, a revival of our childhood fantasies about the most magical night of the year—a celebration of pure snow, Christmas trees, and unexpected but very pleasant surprises.
The show will feature all the best that the technologically rich 21st century has given us. Guests of the evening will be able to make a virtual round-the-world trip, celebrating the New Year together with Tokyo, Goa, Ibiza, London, New York, and Los Angeles. This became possible thanks to the latest multimedia technologies—"live walls": giant screens that broadcast in real-time the mixes from the best European VJs from the company MicroChunk, as well as a unique laser and light show.
Special guests of New Year Exclusive will be the legendary Fatboy Slim, his wife, the famous British radio host Zoe Ball, and the first lady of r'n'b Neneh Cherry.
Norman Cook's performance in Moscow is an extraordinary event. For the first time, a musician of this level is coming to Moscow to celebrate the New Year. It is known that recently, Fatboy Slim has rarely appeared in public. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, he is fully immersed in recording a new album. The details of this project, as well as the exact release date, are kept under strict secrecy. It is only known that the recording of the disk is assisted by Blur's lead singer David Albarn, The Chemical Brothers musicians, the "godfather of funk" Bootsy Collins, and American soul diva Macy Gray. Secondly, rumors say that very soon Norman Cook plans to retire from his DJ career altogether. Therefore, the news that Fatboy Slim agreed to perform in Moscow at NEW YEAR Exclusive caused a real sensation. Interest in this event is immense, including from the Western press: many major international publications have expressed interest in reporting about Norman Cook's visit to Moscow.
Another guest of NEW YEAR Exclusive, the famous singer and DJ Neneh Cherry is arriving in Moscow for the second time in the last two months. Her set at Halloween XIII in Golitsyn's wine warehouses became a real sensation, and Neneh Cherry is returning to the Russian capital "by popular demand."

FATBOY SLIM
He made even Christopher Walken dance. Jim Morrison and Macy Gray sang along with him. He took the Rolling Stones to the dance floors. And he loves to fool people by hiding behind various masks. But one of his names you definitely know. Meet Fatboy Slim—a man of mystery on an international scale and the most successful British musician on the modern pop scene.
His career began in the mid-80s in his hometown Brixton (UK). Before achieving fame, the budding guitarist switched through several bands. His first serious band was Housemartins—a group playing fairly tough Britpop. Less than two years passed before he retrained as an electronic musician, "shining" in a wonderful dub team Beats International, and released several house tracks under the aliases Pizzaman and Fried Funk Food. However, true fame came to him after Norman launched the project Freakpower—a pseudo funk group in the spirit of the late seventies. The first track recorded under this name achieved unprecedented success. Not only did the song "Tune In, Tune On, Drop Out" become a hit, climbing to the second position in the national chart, but this melody was also used in an advertisement for Levi's jeans.
But all that was trivial compared to what happened in June 1998 after the release of the album "The Rockafeller Skank." This can only be described as a mass frenzy—the title track of the album, that very one with the catchy chorus "Right about now, the funk soul brother" shoots up the British charts, eventually dethroning Robbie Williams. Within a month, the album became "platinum." MTV played the video for "Praise You" around the clock—recorded with a hidden camera, it features an impromptu performance by an amateur dance troupe on the streets of New York. The director of this clip was Spike Jonze—the future creator of phenomenal comedies "Being John Malkovich" and "Adaptation."
In the work on the second album "Halfway Between The Gutter and the Stars," Norman Cook was assisted by American soul singer Macy Gray, legendary bassist Bootsy Collins, Norman's old friends from The Chemical Brothers, and... Jim Morrison himself. Yes, don’t be surprised. One of the songs on the album, the melodic "Sunset (Bird of Pray)," was recorded using the voice of the famous Doors vocalist. In the video for another song from this album, "Weapon Of Choice," the same Spike Jonze made even Christopher Walken dance to the upbeat rhythm.
Need I say that "Halfway Between The Gutter and the Stars" awaited phenomenal success? The album convincingly proved that today Fatboy Slim is a key figure in global show business, a musician whose popularity is comparable to that of The Beatles or The Rolling Stones.
By the way about The Rolling Stones... Just recently, in the summer of 2003, Norman Cook and Mick Jagger managed to work together. The musicians of The Rolling Stones approached Fatboy Slim asking him to make a remix of the classic hit from 1968 "Sympathy For The Devil." The result of this bold move didn’t take long to appear. Thirty years after its creation, the new version of this song is again topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
