Клубные российские · 14.09.2004
In Moscow, from September 25 to 26, the Nokia Lab festival of contemporary music and media art will take place at the new concert venue of the "Mechanics" club (Avtozavodskaya St., 16/2).
Nokia Lab is a festival of the latest trends in music and art, such as new-rock, hip-hop, nu-electronica. A separate program of the festival will be dedicated to media art – creativity born from human imagination and new technologies that help artists find new ways and forms of self-expression.
The festival will take place simultaneously at two venues.
At the first venue, from September 25 to 26, Audio Bullys, Electric Six, Robots, DJs Uho and Existence will perform. On the evening of September 26, a mix of hip-hop and electronics will be presented. During the day and evening, the hip-hop part will take place, featuring El-P, a representative of the iconic independent hip-hop label Definitive Jux, as the headliner. He will be supported by Kirpichi, Mister Malo, DJ Vinylkin, and the creative team "Psychoactive." At night, "smart" electronics and its guru Plaid will sound, followed by Kompass-Vrubel, and the night will end with a performance by the group D-Fuse, which will take place in the second hall.
The second venue of the festival will be intended for the demonstration of media projects and performances by electronic collectives who will accompany their shows with original video content. The program will feature Sergey Shutov, Kirill Preobrazhensky (with a mirrored cube and theremin installation previously exhibited in the XL gallery), Anton Smirninsky, Cloud Commission, SCSI-9, Ministry of Psychedelics, Alexandroid, Selfish, and others.
A unique experiment is planned within the festival: participant of the media program Alexei Blinov, who is a member of the international media community Laptop Jams, will organize a video bridge between community members, and NokiaLab visitors will be able to see video mixes being created in real-time across different cities around the world to the music playing at the festival. The curator of the media program is Kirill Preobrazhensky.
For the first time in Moscow, world-renowned media artist D-Fuse will perform. Their show Dataflow is an audio-visual project – an attempt to visualize spaces intentionally or unintentionally created in the Net. D-Fuse tries to bring to light the hidden workings of digital data and present it as a performance, using various types of animation, space modeling, projections, audio tracks, and other high-tech achievements.
The festival program also contains several surprise names—debut performances on the big stage by several interesting participants, as well as special guests.
We look forward to seeing you on September 25-26 at the "Mechanics" club, located at the 3rd Ring Road, Avtozavodskaya St. 16/2, phone for inquiries 913-9956. Entry is free!
