New names at Mutek
Музыкальные зарубежные · 09.05.2007
The annual Mutek festival has been held in Montreal since 2000, and thankfully, the year 2007 is no exception. For five days at the end of May, over a hundred artists will come together at five different venues united by one festival. The dedicated ones know what to expect, while newcomers are sure to be amazed. The program on May 30 will delight the most discerning guests. Clinker will distort space with sound. Boris & Brecht Debackere will perform as Rotor with an audiovisual installation that challenges all traditional cinematic concepts, and O.Lamm will play dance music created from entirely childish samples. On May 31, it's dub. Shackleton and Kode9 will provide a detailed presentation of the London dubstep scene. Inspirational labels Basic Channel and Burial Mix's Maurizio will treat listeners to his project Rhythm & Sound, simultaneously demonstrating how the fundamental principles of dub and techno intersect. Aidan Baker (Nadja) will mesmerize audiences on June 1, playing his multilayered and loop-filled electronic compositions. Later that night, Montreal's The Mole will tear up the club with his minimal-funk and strange disco, followed by the fantastic trio Cobblestone Jazz from the Wagon Repair label. Then, on June 2, the dance floor will be rocked by the brand new Minus label artist - Ambivalent, and the superstars of Berlin micro-house - My My. Finally, guests will have a chance to dive into hard techno from Audion on June 3, featuring psychedelic and progressive techno from Jesse Somfay, a minimal kick from Heartthrob, and the eternally popular and wonderfully harmonious duo Wighnomy Brothers. Mutek kicks off on May 30, 2007, more details on the official festival website.
