New mix 'Cyber Progressive' by Johan Gyber

Being at the forefront of the development of the Dutch dance scene for two decades, Johan Groenewegen set standards in the Netherlands. Johan was born in The Hague, and a turning point in his life came in the summer of 1989 when he often went to listen to Acid House at Amsterdam's Roxy at the dawn of this movement. He felt that dance music should be more than just transient, and in the same year he began organizing his parties. 'I wanted to share my love for music with people and wanted everyone to experience my vision of a real party!' says Johan. 'My first parties were called Gaultier Modern Dance Parties. The idea was quite simple: I chose an original theme, the best location in the Netherlands or Belgium (in a castle, palace, church, etc.), gathered the most extravagant people, set the strictest dress code, invited the world's best DJs such as Carl Cox, Laurent Garnier, Tiesto, Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin, Paul Van Dyk, Derrick May, Stacey Pullen. I added the best sound system and visual effects, everything was very exclusive, and nothing could go wrong!' These parties became so legendary that they are still remembered in the Netherlands, and in 1993 Update Magazine awarded them the title of Best Party Organization in 1993. 'The parties were hugely successful. On Christmas 1990, we organized an event in Wernhout called Jaiselings Royal Palace, where 4000 people dressed in Renaissance style and masks attended. When the party ended the next morning, people cried - they didn't want that moment to end!' In honor of these outstanding events, Johan released his first unforgettable compilation, Gaultier Modern Dance Parties 1990-1995. In 1994, Johan launched his label Cyber Records. Artists such as Armin Van Buuren, Victor Calderone, Jaydee, Continuous Cool, Yahel, Chab, Andro, and 16 Bit Lolitas signed contracts with his label, and their releases are known worldwide. As a DJ and producer, Johan proves that he can set standards in this field. His latest 'Split Second - Midnight Express' topped the charts and was licensed for compilations by Tiesto 'In Search of Sunrise 4' and Ferry Corsten 'Passport'. Other singles - 'Ohan - Crash' and 'Johan Cyber - Marco Antonio' - were featured in compilations by Digweed 'Global Underground Live in Hong Kong' and Carl Cox 'Global'. Johan was also one of those who remixed 'Three Drives - Greece200', one of the best trance records. Mr. Cyber (as his friends call him) has performed all over the world, from Amsterdam to Taiwan, from Ibiza to Bali, from Germany to Israel, from the USA to Russia. At the best global events, he often performs alongside the most famous DJs. He enjoys conveying his vision and music to other cultures and also bringing their ideas home!
