Open Air Festival 'Copper Lake'

On July 1-2, 2006, as part of the celebration of Youth Day 2006 in St. Petersburg, the eighth annual music festival - 'Copper Lake' will take place. This year, the festival has acquired a new social status and will consist of two parts: the festival itself and a youth exhibition. The multi-hour youth open-air festival is held once a year in early July in the Leningrad region near Lake Mednoe (hence the name of the festival) and gathers young people not only from St. Petersburg, but from all over Russia. The distinctive feature of the festival is the large number of participants and music areas: one main and more than 30 secondary ones, representing dance clubs, promoter groups, and creative associations from all over Russia. Over its eight-year history, 'Copper Lake' has become not just a festival, but a musical brand, which can boldly be called the largest event in Russia at the moment. The history of the festival: The Open Air 'Copper Lake' was first organized in 1998. It started as a modest picnic of musicians and DJs who gathered to relax in nature. In 2005, the event could not accommodate all the interested people. The year 2005 became a turning point in the history of 'Copper Lake' - it was attended by more than 35,000 people! Over 200 DJs performed on 22 dance floors, including DJ Aphrodite, a world-class DJ ranked in the top ten DJs globally performing for the first time. The number of attendees exceeded 35,000, with visitors staying until 5 AM. According to estimates, if the territory where the event took place could accommodate all the interested people, Open Air 'Copper Lake' would have been visited by 60 to 80 thousand people. In 2006, the 'Copper Lake' brand reached a new level, slightly complicating the concept and changing the location for the first time. 'Copper Lake' will become not just a music festival, but a social project under the slogan 'New Life' with the support of the government of the Leningrad region. The venue for the 2006 festival will be the district of Kasimovo airfield, the event will last about 30 hours, with the participation of around 350 DJs and musicians from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vologda, Ivanovo, Cherepovets, and other cities of Russia and the Leningrad region, Moscow, and regions of Russia on 40 dance floors! This year, the company 'Kontrfors' - the organizer of massive events such as 'Eastern Strike' and 'Mayday' - will be the organizational partner of the music festival. A parking lot will be organized on the 3 km runway of the airfield for owners of personal vehicles. Buses will also run from the metro stations 'Ozerki' and 'Prospekt Prosveshcheniya'.
