Panasonic Stops Production of Technics Turntables

Panasonic will cease production of the Technics SL-1200 and Technics SL-1210 turntables by February 2010. The reason is low equipment sales. Vinyl professionals and enthusiasts around the world are speculating. According to one theory, production will indeed be halted and in a few years, turntables of this type will become true expensive rarities. The second scenario is more optimistic: it is possible that Panasonic is "warming up" interest in its products, and we will learn about the release of an upgraded model, the Technics SL-1220, as early as next spring.
