Paul Oakenfold. The Romance with Russia Develops!

Club XIII is honored to invite you to celebrate the birthday of a beloved figure of the capital's public, the world-famous DJ, friend of Madonna and Bono, the legendary Paul Oakenfold.
For music lovers around the world, his name stands alongside Madonna, U2, and Moby. It's said that Oakenfold has long ceased to be just a DJ. He is a legend, who forever changed the face of dance music, bringing house music out of the underground to the world pop stage.
Paul Oakenfold was one of the first to "marry" house with rock, initiating a trend of making dance remixes. His creative alliance with U2 became the main sensation of the 90s. Paul was the first DJ to perform live with a rock band during concerts.
He was also the first DJ entrusted with composing a soundtrack for a movie - the soundtrack to "Password: Swordfish" was enthusiastically received by critics. The cinematic theme continued in 2003 when Oakenfold recorded several tracks for the cult film by the Wachowski brothers "The Matrix: Reloaded".
In working on his first "author's" album Bunkka, released in the summer of 2002 under Madonna's Maverick Record label, the musician was assisted by his old friends – the famous rapper Ice Cube, British trip-hop star Tricky, and pop singer Nelly Furtado. Bunkka sold a million copies and in February 2003 won the prestigious Dancestar Awards as "best album of the year".
In 2004, Paul Oakenfold was nominated for a Grammy with the compilation Creamfields and received several prestigious awards for the remix of the classic hit by The Doors L.A. Woman.
Paul Oakenfold's romance with Russia and club XIII has a long history. Paul fell in love with Moscow five years ago during his first visit to Russia, made loyal friends here, and since then regularly visits our city.
The culmination of this mutual attraction was the celebration of the legendary DJ's birthday in October 2003 at club First. This celebration, organized by the owner of XIII and Paul’s great friend Gary Chaglasian, gathered the crème de la crème of the capital’s club society.
It seems that these birthdays are becoming a good tradition. A few weeks ago, Paul called Gary again, announcing that he specifically left a "window" in his busy schedule to celebrate his birthday with his Russian friends. Such an offer cannot be declined, and the party Happy Birthday, Paul will take place in the club XIII, which reopened after almost a three-year break.
