On March 13, Electronica invites all its listeners and friends to the first party of the label in Moscow — Made in Siberia, which will take place at the Shanti club.
The label's history began with the eponymous radio show that aired on the FM waves of the small Siberian town of Usolie-Siberian starting from October 12, 2007. The main idea of this show was to talk about music that is not heard frequently in everyday life. Periodically, guest mixes from representatives of different cities, labels of Russia, and neighboring countries were featured on the program.
On May 1, 2008, the first online release of 'Electronica' was launched in support of the radio show, which was already actively discussed online through published podcasts. Releases started to come out monthly, gradually gaining more listeners and artists — now there are over 50 of them! Among them: Audiodump, Adverb, Alla Farmer, Alex Danilov, Combinator, Clapan, Ryba, Doyeq, Eric Delay, Frunk29, Sergey Suokas, Imachi Akira, Kammerton, Killahertz, Korablove, Lazzich, Masha Era, Modul, Milinal, Nikosf., Okcug, Polar Lights, River’n’Sea, Sanderson, Vadim Lankov, Waveform, Yuka... The label has released 21 releases so far, including 2 compilations, several albums, and numerous EPs.
Key figures of the night at Shanti:
Marat Shainsky - born in the lowlands of the Volga River, city of Astrakhan. He attended a music school specializing in piano from the age of 5. At 18, he played guitar in a grunge band, at 19 he switched the guitar for a mixer, and at 25, he moved to Moscow and made his computer sound. His debut Abc EP was released on the Electronica label on October 1, 2008. This was followed by a series of releases and remixes for Modul, Vadim Lankov, and River’n’Sea. Some of them received support from Richie Hawtin, who played his remixes at summer festivals in 2009. In the fall of the same year, he participated as a representative of the Electronica label at the NetAudio Moscow Festival 2009, known as an international idea, emerging a few years ago as NetAudio London, Berlin... Marat still chooses the time for studio work for future releases, one of which will be released on Electronica.
Doyeq project was founded by Sergey Kulikov and Vitaly Bragin in January 2009. Despite the fact that the guys met much earlier, the decision to realize the idea of joint sounding, with the addition of minimalist rhythms, diluted with deep atmospheric moods, came relatively recently. Each of the project participants came to music in his own way: Sergey worked on a solo project called Tutty, which still exists to this day, Vitaly, on the other hand, was involved in the psychedelic trance project End_project. The guys released their debut album on the Electronica label on June 1, 2009. After that, they performed at the 'Breathe Deeper' party at the Moscow club Shanti. They participated in the writing of remixes, one of which was released on VA – Electronica 2.0. Recently, they released a release on the new Passage, which is a continuation of the legendary Russian Fragment.
One lived many years by the White River, the other by the Black Sea — this is what gave rise to the name of the River’n’Sea project, which includes Sasha Khizhnyakov and Dima Yakovlev. The guys met in 2008 at one of the loudest series of parties Freak Me, held in Irkutsk. Sasha was hosting a radio show and releasing online releases of his Electronica label, while Dima was actively performing DJ sets. They could occasionally be seen together at the decks of the Zima Project club, where they were residents. After the Electronica Labelnight 1.0 party, the guys decided to give their duo a name and performed their next DJ set as River’n’Sea. In the summer of 2009, parallel to their performances, the guys started to dedicate time to joint experiments in writing their own tracks. After three months, their first works received support from Franco Bianco, Tiefschwartz, Pheek, Matt Star, Alex Danilov, Adam Port, Luca Ricci. Subsequently, they signed deals with the Darek (Switzerland), Cimelde (Romania), and Aenaria (Italy) labels. The guys currently live in Moscow, continuing to perform and actively working in the studio on future releases and remixes. Recently, they became residents of RTS.FM.
Stepan Chernov was born on September 27, 1982, in Ulyanovsk. He graduated from a music school specializing in conducting and piano. The first records and club impressions date back to 2000. After moving to Samara in 2004, he spent several years studying sound engineering and experimenting with various music groups. At the beginning of 2007, Stepan received an invitation from a Moscow recording studio working in the field of cinema and advertising. His work as a composer and sound designer, acquaintance with Helga and Max Grabke, the results of six months of joint work on the complex techno collage 'Pi,' and a few steps with Deepmix have had a positive impact on his DJ activities. Today, Stepan is a resident of the internet radio station RTS, a member of the '237' family, and a frequent guest at clubs like Shanti and Propaganda. Stepan's music is difficult to pigeonhole into a specific style, but it always resonates with his long-standing and greatest love for classic techno. Author of scientific works in the field of kinematics and cosmoenergetics, as well as articles on the effects of sound frequencies on the structure of substances. Author of the track 'Fascinating cyberstewardess with her inward search,' which was included in the first compilation of the Electronica label.
Iconnikov Oleg was born in Moscow and began professionally engaging in electronic music in 2001. Collecting vinyl, he experimented with various musical genres, but a serious interest in techno came after he got his hands on a record — Wighnomy Brothers & Robag Wruhme — Polytikk Ep, the deep sound and dynamics of which literally overturned all his previous ideas about music. In 2006, Lega became a resident of the Moscow DeepMix radio and the eponymous parties at the Mix and Paparazzi Bar clubs. Until 2009, weekly internet broadcasts with his participation were conducted from the studios Cartoon and Cotton. Currently, Lega organizes Tech It Easy parties at the Solyanka club and is the founder of the Russian-Swiss label 237 Family Records.
