Pink Floyd release unreleased material

Pink Floyd hasn't been very creative lately. The band's frontman Roger Waters held a grand concert tour of cities in Europe and North America in honor of the 30th anniversary of the band's legendary album "The Wall". As part of the famous trio - Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason - they met, it seemed, only in court. As you know, legal proceedings with the EMI label, which the musicians accused of illegally selling their tracks on iTunes, ended not long ago. According to the terms of the contract signed by the band and the label in 1998-1999, Pink Floyd albums had to be sold as a whole and could not be released track by track. The incident gave rise to a funny story spreading online that the mentioned contract simply did not foresee the further appearance of iTunes (launched, by the way, two years after the signing of the contract). Having won the case, the musicians soon signed a new agreement with EMI, this time allowing the label to sell individual tracks on iTunes. And what is the result?.. Today Pink Floyd and EMI are preparing to release a large-scale reissue of the group's back catalogue. But unlike other releases of this kind, the current reissue will include a number of rare recordings, restored tracks, alternative demo versions of songs and a lot of previously unreleased musical material. 14 studio albums will appear in a new edition in September under the general title “Why Pink Floyd...?”. The band's classic album The Dark Side Of The Moon will be released in an expanded Immersion version in a six-CD box set. Another album, “Wish You Were Here,” will appear on five discs, which will include, among other things, an previously unreleased studio version of the title track with a restored violin part by jazz virtuoso Stefan Grappelli. And the cult “The Wall” (which already boasts 25 million copies sold) will be released on a special scale on seven discs. While Pink Floyd polishes off rare demos of their classic tracks, fans can take advantage of a unique chance to put their creative spin on their favorite band's music through a series of specially designed iPhone apps.
