Planningtorock makes her debut on DFA

One of the brightest and most mysterious artists of the contemporary electronic scene, provocative singer and performer Janin Rostron, hiding under the pseudonym Planningtorock, announced that her debut album "W" will be released on the New York label DFA in May of this year. Her first single from the album called "Doorway" is truly a remarkable example of art house pop music reminiscent in part of Antony & the Johnsons and even Xiu Xiu. But, perhaps, most distinctly the avant-garde influence of Arthur Russell manifests itself here in one way or another. It is not surprising that as a tribute to Russell, his song "Janin" will appear on the record. The anticipated album is positioned by the artist herself as "epic in its scale, deeply personal, extraterrestrial, but at the same time enchantingly familiar, endlessly bold and original" – in short, an album that will undoubtedly make everyone dizzy. "W" was recorded over three and a half years in Berlin with the participation of guest musicians from Scandinavia – Icelandic musician Hjörleifur Jónsson and Swedish composer and DJ Christoph Berg.
