Suspect and Dasha Rush
Клубные российские · 24.07.2007
On July 27, from midnight until the morning, the second floor of the 16 tons club will be given over to current electronics performed by foreign guests Suspect and Dasha Rush. Composer, musician and DJ, former resident of the USSR, and now a citizen of beautiful France, Dasha Rush (Dasha Ptitsyna Von Selst), as usual, is more popular abroad than in her homeland. However, professionals and electronic music gurus have known Dasha’s name and work for a long time. Collaborating with her are the respected DJ Compass-Vrubel, the Russian star of a planetary scale Solar X and Richie Hawtin himself, who anxiously follows the successes of the techno girl. The German stage generally favors Dasha; the artist’s regular and frequent performances in Berlin are further confirmation of this. Having been creating music for many years, Dasha naturally came to the creation of her own recording label, Fullpanda, small but very independent. So far, the label’s catalog has three releases - two “forty-fives”, one of which, Approach, has greatly displaced the unshakable and inventive Anglo-Americans in the charts and has not left the DJ bags of respected masters Luciano and Villalobos for a long time. A full-fledged concept album with a dozen tracks for artists of the dance genre, frankly, a rare phenomenon, but experimental techno performed by Dasha is music of the highest level, without any allowance for the beauty’s young age and appearance. Last year's triumphant performance at Kazantip clearly demonstrated both Dasha's performing skills and the increased level of Russian techno, which is a real competitor to the best Western samples.
Tim O'Loghlin, one of the few Australian electronic engineers known throughout the world, has been hiding under the creative pseudonym Suspect for many years now.
In 1994, together with fellow countryman Michael Dowling, Tim organized the Dark Network project - an industrial-dark drone with a measured (or implicit) rhythm and minor vibrations. Having entrenched themselves in a home studio in the suburbs of Canberra, over the course of several years the duo released a couple of dozen experimental, moody tracks with transparent hints of deep techno, earning respect from numerous fans of Fax Records and other producers of similar products. In his solo work, “Suspect” prefers more dynamic musical genres, the defining genre of which is techno in all its forms. At home, Tim is a leader of the national techno movement and an undisputed authority on contemporary music; Suspect's sound installations have been exhibited at the National Museum of Australia, the NSW Art Gallery and the ACT Contemporary Art Festival. There is no reason to suspect Suspect of being too clever: of course, he will rock the dance floor, just the way we love it!
