Details of the festival "Abracadabra"

Attention! On April 20 and 21, the Abracadabra festival will be held at the Expo Center, in the fourth and sixth pavilions! The program on April 19 at the theater "35 MM" and the lineup of artists on April 20 and 21 remain unchanged. The upcoming event was commented on by the music director of the festival, Dmitry Garin:\n“The idea of \u200b\u200bcreating the festival belongs to us with Larisa Melikyants, the director of Abracadabra. And it all began during the Sonar festival, which takes place in Barcelona... One day we looked at a small festival with the inviting name Wrong Festival. Just imagine, on the one hand, the huge colossus of Sonar - 20 rooms and 100 thousand people, and on the other hand, a small club for 100 people, and then if you sit on each other’s necks. And in Donna Summer (Jason Forrest), Hrvatski (Keith Fullerton Whitman) and End (Charles Pierce) performed at the club. Our jaws dropped from such music and such performance. We thought that we should bring these guys to Moscow for a better sound. We came up, agreed, and organized it...\nAlready in Moscow, planning the festival for 2007, we drew up a completely conceptual line-up. The first part of the special program shows the possibility of a marriage between classical and electronic music with a short excursion into the last century. The ensemble “Studio of New Music” at the State Conservatory is learning scores by Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, rehearsing a rare work by Edgard Varèse “Octander”, and also performing works by contemporary Russian composers especially for our festival. The second section features the most advanced media art to date performed by masters Ryoji Ikeda and Carsten Nicolai. The format of the concert is strict: turn off your phones, don’t talk or breathe - listen carefully and gain insight.\nThe principle of compiling a nightly program is as simple as a boot: on Friday night in the first hall, which we call AbraDom, the atmosphere is dynamic and the sound is relatively harsh. In the second hall (AbraPort) at this time you are relaxing with hip-hop, psychedelic, disco and sweet techno. On Saturday, everything is exactly the opposite - in AbraDom there is positivity with a soft sound, and in AbraPort there is naked electronics.\nFor those who like to listen to interesting (sometimes experimental) music while sitting in a concert hall without restrictions on freedom of movement, there is a daytime program at the AbraCenter.\nIn conclusion, if we draw parallels, Abracadabra is something that has absorbed the culture of such festivals as Sonar in Spain, Futuresonic in England, Mutek in Canada, All Tomorrow Parties and Transmediale.
