Premiere of Mujuice's Album 'Downshifting'

Arguably the main figure of the Russian electronic scene, musician, aesthetician, and decadent of our time Mujuice, a.k.a. Roman Litvinov, has released a new album, an event that the informed public has already praised in the highest terms. The significance lies not only in the fact that many see Mujuice as the substantial, in many ways beautiful and promising future of Russian electronic music, not just because he is a recognized reference point, one of the most sought-after Russian artists in the West, and a welcome guest at trendy festivals like Transmusicales and Sonar, but because in essence, the music remains outside (or even more accurately, above) any audience. Music is truly indescribable and disconcertingly close to almost everyone who comes into contact with it. And the upcoming album with the specific title 'Downshifting' vividly confirms this. Just consider that the album is being released by Artemy Troitsky on his label 'Voskhod,' a prominent and authoritative figure, but... entrenched in Russian rock, which will not casually lend a hand to just about anything, and with whose light touch a bold association with Dostoevsky's 'Blood Type' of the 21st century is drawn. The assessment, of course, is extremely subjective – one might assume that the allusion to Tsoi is not in Tsoi's favor, nor in favor of Mujuice himself – but, let's say, quite intriguing. And speaking of Tsoi, one unintentionally wonders that if you let our grandmothers listen to 'Downshifting,' they might draw parallels with Vertinsky. And that speaks volumes in any case... The first song from the new album is 'Yunost.' If you browse through the numerous forums of the Russian Internet, you'll find an audience ranging from 'office plankton' to the well-versed in the current sound of the youth eagerly awaiting Mujuice's music.
