Kitsune Presentation at French Kiss Party

In the near future, Russian fans of indie music will be able to get acquainted with three releases from the Franco-Japanese label Kitsune: Kitsune Maison issues 5 and 6, as well as the Kitsune Tabloid mix by Digitalism. The label's presentation, which translates from Japanese as "fox," will take place on November 7 at the Justo club as part of the French music party project French Kiss. Kitsune is a collaboration of two people: art director and part-time manager of Daft Punk - Gildas Loaec, and an architect turned fashion designer, Masaya Kuroki. In their youth, Gildas and Kuroki listened to techno, grew up, and then established their own label, making Klaxons, Digitalism, and Boys Noize famous. While on tour with Daft Punk in Tokyo, the friends were impressed by the huge potential of the Japanese market and wanted to create a full-fledged clothing brand alongside their music. Kitsune's success largely stemmed from Gildas putting as much effort into curating Kitsune Maison compilations as Masaya did into designing clothing. The design agency Abake in London also contributed significantly. Its specialists managed to create a recognizable visual style for Kitsune records: bright and deliberately messy. Unlike their music, which Kitsune produces following the principles of 'eclecticism, popularity, and uniqueness,' the clothing they have been making for several seasons now includes cashmere cardigans and polos with small foxes, elevating them to luxury status. Kitsune even released footwear designed by Balenciaga designer Pierre Hardy for sale in exclusive boutiques. 'Creating clothing is a huge challenge for us,' says Gildas. 'It is considered nearly impossible to build both a proper music label and a proper clothing brand. However, thankfully, in Japan, where we have the highest sales, they do not view it that way.'
