Presentation of Pompeya's Vinyl Single 'Cheenese'

It is known that everything new is usually well-forgotten old, or... well-reinterpreted old. The sound of the Moscow band Pompeya can be defined as 'good old indie' from the times of the new wave boom. But it's not that simple, and this is more like a first impression, a hasty association that comes to mind spontaneously. Much in Pompeya's music is felt unconsciously, not manifested obviously, so that sometimes you can only feel it, but it's hard to articulate. They sound uniquely, but in nuances; relevant, but inspired by British rock of the 80s; they started as a guitar band, and today they work with interesting musicians - instrumentalists and electronic musicians. 'Mature Moscow new wave', 'girly pop-rock', 'melodramatic pop song' - all this is also about them... Yes, it's the 21st century now, and what they do has probably been done before. It's not something radically new, but something you love to hear again. On one hand, you can listen to something old, time-tested, ultimately original. And on the other hand - if you've heard a lot already, it can be quite intriguing, especially considering they're from Russia... What!? Are you kidding? '...Perhaps this is the only Russian band that sings in English with such British penetration and a male vocal that is strong and sophisticated at the same time,' - these are the words from the release by the Russian label Theomatic, on which the vinyl single by the band named 'Cheenese' is being released with remixes by An-2, D-Pulse, and Lipelis. The song 'Cheenese' was already released on a single put out by Pompeya themselves last year. Now, the well-known Andrei Zakharov, aka An-2, the owner of the label Theomatic, has joined the cause with his exquisite approach to music. The original composition, specially remixed by Andrei for this release, is supported on the record by a set of remixes, each of which is independent and unique in its own way. An-2, in collaboration with guitarist Maxim Samos (Samos), will present on the album an instrumental version in an easygoing funky sound. On the other side - a confident dance house remix by the up-and-coming young producer Leonid Lipelis (Lipelis). And for sophisticated music lovers, a dark 'Paranoid-mix' with rolls of vintage guitars and keyboards by the members of the D-Pulse quartet will appear on the fourth track. However, the opportunity to hear all this will be coming very soon. The release party will take place on March 14 at the Cargo Bar, where all the album participants will perform with DJ sets.
