Continuation of Headz.FM Parties at Ikra

On September 20th, an after-party of the Migz international festival of contemporary music and media art will take place at the Ikra club. The resident guest is Orin Walters, also known as 'Afronaught,' a key figure in London's music underground. The founder of the renowned Bugz In The Attic collective, Bitasweet label, and the iconic Co-op parties, Afronaught is credited with pioneering what music critics call 'broken beat.' Jazz, funk, soul, Afro-Latin motifs mixed with broken electronic rhythms, hip-hop, house, techno, and even drum and bass – Afronaught and Bugz In The Attic's music defies clear genre labels. Orin himself describes his work as 'progressive soulful music,' which is indeed a fitting description.
He started organizing underground raves in the late 80s, featured on the legendary Reinforced label of 4 Hero in the 90s, and later founded Bugz In The Attic. Today, the 'Attic Bugs' are recognized masters of the British scene, bringing true underground sound to the masses.
Stars like Roisin Murphy, Basement Jaxx, or Amy Winehouse have queued up for their signature remixes, but Orin and the 'bugs' remain loyal to friends like Jazzanova, Reel People, or Kyoto Jazz Massive. In his years as a DJ, Afronaught has performed at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival alongside Carl Craig, the famous jazz summit in Montreux, Barcelona's Sonar, and the cult Big Chill, while his Co-op parties at London's Plastic People club have been hailed as the best in the vast London club scene. A true musical phenomenon, unlike anything else. Experience it firsthand at the Headz.FM party on September 20th.
