The Dispersal of Czechtek Recognized as Legal

The scandal related to the police dispersal of the Czechtek festival has developed. Recently, Czech Public Defender of Human Rights Otakar Moteyl published a report on his investigation into the legality of police actions. In it, he stated that the police had every reason to use tear gas and water cannons against the unarmed crowd. "The police should have started the operation immediately after receiving information that the gathered participants of the rave had violated the borders of private property, as there was a danger of them committing a crime," said Moteyl.
